Puckpedia says UFA, CapWages says RFA.

I think its UFA though, since this contract will be his 6th and 7th seasons.

His first two count even though he didn't get to 40 games because he was injured and on the roster.

That would be why the math wasn't mathing for me. It didn't look like he was on the roster long enough for those to count as accrued seasons, but, if he was on IR/LTIR, that would explain it.

I don't doubt they offered long term in the 5s. Knies' agent is less dumb than Blake's. Or Tulsky is some kind of sweet-talking savant.

He's bigger and older than Nick Robertson and put up more pts in this platform season, and someone the Leafs were kicking tires on signing to a UFA deal.

Maybe that's what he likes -- manufacturing a chip on his shoulder

12 of his 15 goals were against poop teams (inc BOS).

A comparable might be... Jonatan Berggren who hit 12/12 in a similar role on a worse team last season and signed for 1.85M for one year.
Treliving probably offered 1.35M for 3 years...
