Yah, I thought it might be about putting bums in seats...but it sure doesn't look like a great contract at the moment.

The problem is, for someone who can only play the least important position (and not particularly well, either), can't run and who has an awful baseball IQ, that contract can only look great if he is basically the best hitter in the entire game year after year. But like you said, I'm sure appeasing the fans and affected attendace played a role (y)
