All aboard the band wagon... were playoff bound.

Turning the CN tower into a giant goal light for Leaf playoff games??

I am still giddy about the Leafs making the playoffs.  It will bring back fond memories of hearing the crowd roar when the  players come out in the first game at home.

As we head into the playoffs I am excited but at the same time ... serene.  The only thing that would disappoint me would be to get swept -- the team is better than that.  In fact, we could upset anyone.  But at the same time I think most of us know that this team is not going to make a serious run this year ... there are still way too many holes on defense.

These playoffs will be a learning experience.  I am just happy they're in -- no expectations, only hopes.

The odds are against them, sure, but haven't the last few years taught us that any team, no matter what sort of holes, can get hot and make noise in the playoffs?

True indeed, and my whole view is to hope for just that while not getting too unhappy if it doesn't.  Like I said, they could upset anyone.

See, I'm even more about managing expectations. I'm not just saying we shouldn't expect the Leafs to win, I'm saying we shouldn't expect anyone ever to win.

I clasp your hand in friendship.

My philosophy is, if you set the bar low enough, you can trip over it and still achieve your tamest dreams.

Hey, set the bar low enough and you're not tripping over it at all. You're giving it a good, swift kick.

That's true, and in some years you find out that the competition wasn't as strong as it was assumed to be.

Not saying that this will be the case, but you never know. Some poker hands you assumed weren't good enough to win actually were.

Maybe it's just the nine-year-old pessimist in me, but I can already picture the Leafs being swept in the first round and subsequently hearing about how they "haven't won a playoff game since 2004."

Same here (even though I'm still dreaming Stanley Cup).  :)

So with so much on the line who starts Sat against Montreal?  Do we sit Reimer with the memory of his last start being a shutout heading into the playoffs?  Do we give give Scrivens a start to shake off the rust in case he is needed come playoffs should Reimer fall to injury?  Do we give Reimer the night off to avoid 3 games in 4 nights heading to the rigours of so many starts in the playoffs?  Do we give Scrivens the start to hold back our cards against the Habs by starting Reimer or to avoid Reimer having a bad game heading into a playoff series with the Habs?  Do we start Scrivens just to avoid Reimer being injured in the final game of the season?  Do we start Reimer because this game is so very important to establish a first round matchup with the Habs?  So many tough questions for RC to go through right now.

Ben, we know you want to play. Just ask Randy if you can.

Pardon me if I stray off topic:  :)

I hope that for all his success this season that Phil Kessel doesn't disappear during the playoffs. He had two good goals last night...against a very weak team. I just know that if he does go awol, he'll be shipped out of here in the off season if MLSE knows how to run things (I wonder). Either way, he will sign with another team once his contract runs out in 2014. I think Kadri may be the franchise player of the future, if not right now. I'm surprised Kessel lasted this long with the TO media and the Leafs missing the playoffs although I doubt asking for a trade would have been a good idea not long after the messy break-up with the Bruins. He's been such an asset to the Leafs making the post-season, yet I don't think that being a Leafs suits his personality at all. I don't think he's shy, I just don't think he wants to be bothered. This itself is quite alright as there are many other loudmouth athletes whom I wish would just shut their pie holes unless they had something nice and/or intelligent to say. It would just look so much more better on him if he endeared himself to the fans a tiny bit more.  I just hope that when he does leave that their will be another goal scorer to fill his shoes.

What about our 82-game full season playoff drought?  :P
