The mistake of not putting Willy on at the end is unforgivable.

Yeah I'm surprised they didn't go 5 F and 1 D for the last shift. Why put Muzzin out there?
I understand Muzzin because of his shot but Nylander should be out there before Kadri. I would have Johnsson out there before him in that situation. I guess he was there to win the faceoff??

Is it just me or should we give Sparks a few starts and give Freddo a resto.  He maybe is shellshocked and needs some down time. I thought Sparks looked very good and you can't fault him on that goal. Seemed the team needed to settle down and get into the third where the Edmonton Plague gave us their back up. I am finally proud of this team, the played their hearts out the last period and that last 8 minutes was crazy.
Their Goalie should have been penalized for that move and we lost as few precious seconds off the clock.
Finally a loss I can live with.  Freddo just didnt cut it for the second game in a row.

Sparks gave up one goal and takes the L.

Also I think knocking the net off in the last 2 minutes could be a penalty shot

Sparks looks a lot cooler in the net, not all over the place like in previous games, seems to have found a groove.  Look, I love Freddo and he is the biggest reason we are where we are but he has put in two stinkers...give the guy a rest.

It's easy not to be nervous when you come in and think the game is already over and it wasn't your fault. I wouldn't read too much into the last 2 Sparks relief appearances

You have a valid point but it must be a confidence booster where Freddo seems to have lost his. Obviously it serves no purpose to keep him playing in games that at this point don't matter all that much as Boston will have home ice advantage.

Me neither. Just like I wouldn't pin this or the last game on Freddie. I would say the 2nd goal looked stoppable even if it was a knuckle ball. I do agree tho that Sparks should get a few more starts. We need Freddie fresh in the playoffs to have any chance.

I don't think Freddie has lost his confidence but agree, the Leafs/Babs shouldn't push Freddie too hard to get home ice. Need him strong for the run.

Exactly, not a Leaf player anywhere near the net!  Goalie pushes it of ALL BY HIMSELF!  No delay of game penalty!  Same shit with the faceoff!  Come on NHL!

Still no excuse for the Leafs to be noshows in the 1st and 2nd periods.

Kadri 9 for 17 in faceoff circle tonight. Noticed a few important losses there in the end. I don't know why Johnny T isn't used more for this.
Willy was 7 of 10 in the dot tonight, JT was 14 of 20. Kadri wasn't the best option in that situation.

For whatever it's worth, Kadri was 8 for 14 against Toews tonight. Tavares was 2 for 6.

Makes sense now.

I would have had Sparks start from the get go.  Who knows if Chicago would have built up the lead they had.  Sparks played well.

The Leafs looked disorganized, listless, and confused in the first two periods of play.  Don?t know what got into them to start the third period with a flurry.  The effort was well appreciated.

Still, the playoffs are just around the corner,  and if these last two losses are any indication, they need to start getting ready now to be ready for the big show.

Sparks should get more starts (so that they can tighten up defensively since Sparks is no Freddy), begin winning again (perhaps a small streak to inject some positivity enroute to the post-season), fine-tune their play, strategize (this one is for you, coach), flexibility (with line combos & preparedness), and get ready to face B-O-S-T-O-N and compete!

So I missed the 3rd. We had 29 SOG in the 3rd?? The hell?

30 shots in total for the third.  One heck of a comeback that just fell short of tying it all up at five apiece.
