Blackhawks vs. Maple Leafs - Feb. 23rd, 7:00pm - TSN, Fan 590

Couldn't have asked for a better pre-trade deadline showcase game for 89. The guy has underutilized skill.

Come on....let's have a hat trick for both brothers tonight!! Might be an NHL first if it happens.

By the letter of the law, it is a correct call, but it sure feels like injustice for Chicago

Anyway, always funny when Nylander adds to Holmberg’s goal total vs empty nets

Domi with 2 assists to Robertson with 2 goals, plus Tanev and McCabe score...ho hum typical Leafs outing.

The call on the ice was onside, so the video evidence needed to conclusively confirm the on-ice ruling was incorrect. Nylander's skate touches the inside of the blueline as Tavares re-engages the puck.
I don't get it. Tavares pushes the puck over the line and Nylander is still in the zone. I get that he then re-touches the puck as Nylander's toe touches the blueline, but Tavares had already brought the puck into the zone with control.

Domi 2GP 0G 2A
Lorentz 2GP 0G 2A
Holmberg 2GP 3G 1A
Steeves 2GP 1G 1A
Kampf 2GP 1G 1A
Robertson 2GP 2G 0A

Tanev 2GP 1G 2A
McCabe 2GP 1G 1A

Not surprising that the bubble guys are maybe in better shape coming off two weeks of rest but also good to see that they are putting up some production when the pressure is on to justify their lineup spot. Two of those guys likely aren't in the lineup after the trade deadline (between Jarnkrok and any additional trade acquisitions)

Because he wasn't touching the puck and hadn't really been carrying it for long, the argument was that he was in the process of gaining control rather than being in control. It's one of the grey areas around offsides.

Ultimately it doesn't matter, but I think Leafs got away with one here.

Just think of it as the puck just sitting inside the blueline. 88 is offside and no Leaf can enter the zone or touch the puck until he clears. He clears, JT enters the zone and touches the puck. Mike Johnson questioned it right away. You don't see it very often.
