My logic, as flawed as it is in your mind, is that Komarov could be a better leader for the Edmonton forwards.

That's not logic. That's an opinion. Logic is supposed to inform opinion. The reasoning you gave for Ference not being a good leader or his work ethic not being as influential on the Oilers is the Oilers performance. But the exact same logic says that because Ference's teams have had way more success than Komarov's that his work ethic must be better.

It's flawed reasoning. It doesn't even hold to an internal consistency.

I give up, you win!

10 wins in 16 games against the West (9 ROW)
5 wins in 21 games against the East (2 ROW)

Only 12 more games against the West. 33 against the East.

Flip side of that argument might be 9 of their first 10 games of the year were against the East when the Leafs were still learning how to play under Babcock. They went 1-6-2 over that stretch.  Since then they are 4-4-4 against the East.

The Leafs are also 14-8-5 since that first 10-game stretch.  I know the possession and scoring chance numbers have been slipping but until that actually plays out in actual losses, I don't like where things are heading in terms of draft picks.

Sure, but only 1 of those 4 wins wasn't a shootout. They could very easily be 1-4-7. So, there's been some improvement in terms of not losing in regulation, but not really in terms of actually beating teams.

Had some time so I looked up what the numbers actually are:

In their first 10 games they had a 53.7% CF with a 6.4 SH% and a .919 SV%.  Their Scoring Chance For % was 55.3% (all at 5v5). PDO of 98.3.

Since then they have had a 49.2% CF with a 7.1 SH% and a .936 SV%.  Their SCF% has ben 50.5%.  PDO of 100.7.

I have no idea what those numbers mean, but I do know that Bobby Orr was +123 in 1974. Put that in your smoke and pipe it.
