I think I am most upset at myself for thinking this might actually be the team that could win.  They don?t deserve my support.

Yeah I was sucked into that as well....
Ugh. Honestly I feel so dumb.  This was the inevitable result and I knew it, yet here I am anyway.

Like that is a hold by Engvall. But you know he?s doing it cos of what else has been let go all night.

Idiot refs.
Brutal call...game changer but whatever. Price is making the saves and Jack didn't on that 1st one.

Exactly.  Jack has been better than anyone really could gave expected, though.  Imagine if Andersen were in net for that....  I think the fanbase would have self-immolated.

Guess I didn?t know what I was talking about but even with the injuries they should have put this series away. If they don?t make some major changes with this core I don?t know what to say. Fukn losers. Thank god I stopped watching early in the series.

But what exactly do you want them to do?  Which one do you want them to trade, and how?

Assuming they lose...the only core piece who should be considered would be Marner, but it would have to be a really good deal. I think maybe you give this group one more year, tweaking around the edges. Replace slow/unproductive players like Thornton and Simmonds with younger, quicker ones. Bring back Spezza, maybe Galchenyuk. Re-sign Hyman only if it is a deal that fits in, we can't mortgage the future to keep him. He's not going to age well and appears to already have lost a step. And hope like heck a couple of younger players (Robertson maybe) are ready to step in and play a regular role.

I mean Hyman had a decent chance and Matthew?s hit a post, but yeah, it kind of does feel like that reflects the balance.

I said I wouldn't get into this debate but I will say this: if a team neutralizes your Rocket Richard winner it doesn't matter much what you do to the rest of the core.  Matthews has tried like hell but it's like he and McDavid were in a personal race to see who could be neutered more in the R1.

Thoughtful reply and I agree with so much of what you say but i?ll throw it out there....in trading a superstar (current anger aside) when has the team trading the superstar ever came out ahead? Can?t think of one but people here will likely come up with some examples

Yes, you have to hand it to the Habs, their defense has been excellent.

The fans would have been all over Freddie more then once this series if he was in net and allowed some of the goals Jack has. He's been very good but he's also allowed 6 very stoppable goals. That's almost half. Not good enough unfortunately.

He's played a lot like Andersen in past playoffs, actually.  Made a bunch of really good stops, played 3 solid games, but yeah, the weak ones always seem to come at the wrong time.

If they stand around the perimeter in this PP I may have trouble maintaining my mature equanimity.

That first one tonight was a killer ? fragile team needed the first one.

I have absolutely no interest in grumbling about refs or pointing fingers at goaltending (whether it's Jack bad/Price good). It's game 7 and 90% of the team is playing like it's a random January regular season game, including our two biggest stars. Just embarrassing.

Bruins traded Thorton, and then 4 short years later, they won the cup.

OK, one last time to get fired up.  Gotta hope they can come back like last two games and at least get it to the crapshoot that is OT.
