Canucks @ Leafs - Dec. 6th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Wow, the Leafs are looking good.  Dare I say it, but they look like a playoff team.  To take down Vancouver so decisively is very impressive.  I'm really glad and quite frankly shocked to see Clarkson playing so well.  Hopefully they can keep going and get on a bit of a roll.

I don't know if I'd say they look good. They're scoring at an impressive rate (and likely unsustainable), but, they're still sitting back way too much once they build a lead. A lot of what happened in the game last night was similar to what happened in Game 7 against the Bruins. This happened:

mirtle: Story: The Leafs were outshot 30-13 after they went up 4-0 last night. Shot attempts were 51-19! http://t.co/hvPR1Bvy2T

There's some score effect in there, but, only some. They didn't get burned by it last night, but, if they keep up with it, they will. You don't want to pick apart a win too much, but, that's something they need to address.

Looking back at that Robidas elbow in slow motion, I don't think he'll get any supplementary discipline, his hand made contact with Matthias shoulder at the same time if not before the elbow. Penalty, yes, but I don't see a suspension there.

We all agree on the Clarkson contract but many free agents are overpaid, Nonis made a blunder but how many other free agents where looking Toronto's way a few years back. He made a bad move but probably thought no move would be worse.
I still like Clarkson (albeit not at this cost), but I will say it again, he brings an intangible to the team and this will show up more in the playoffs, if we should be so fortunate to reach them.
Right now he is playing with grit, creating scoring changes and popping in the odd point.
With Kessel and JVR cold right now all secondary scoring matters big time.
