Right now they are definitely playing worse than their record suggests. Pacioretty looks like he's getting tired. McMann had some bursts tonight but overall he seems to have stopped being as physical and aggressive as he was for a while. The lower part of the lineup just has no scoring ability. Lorentz, Kampf, Dewar, Reaves, Holmberg...nothing there. I guess you could add Domi to that list as well.

WTF are they even trying to do on the PP? At this point they either need to get a new PP coach or just break up the units and put together 2 groups with the talent spread out. Why can't Matthews get any good shots/clean looks on a PP anymore? If they insist on keeping a defenseman out there for the PP maybe try Myers, at least he has a shot.

I'm not sure if it's the worst overall performance but this was a compete no-show from them. The team should be refunding money to anyone who showed up for that crap.

Games like this happen far too often for this core and it's games like this they make Me not trust this team at all. We are first in the division and it feels like a mirage because come the playoffs these kind of things are what kills them

The periphery keeps changing. The coaches have changed. The killer instinct continues to be absent. I'm sure Florida loses games they shouldn't but they aren't losing this one with 20 shots and taking a few heads off.

Instead we just watched the team lay an egg after a disappointing game against Carolina.

Matthews has no business playing at the 4 Nations cup and if the organization lets him go after being a non-factor for 80% of the season that's a massive flag for me.

Some Captain. We get a tough no nonsense type of coach and still with these soft as charmin players. 34 and 88 need to step up.

Yep, yep, yep. I personally am not quite sold on McMann (or Knies for that matter) being quite as good as they are being touted to be.

And I think a retool of the bottom 6 needs to happen before the deadline, not after. Domi can go.

I don't agree with you often, Deke, but I agree with you here. Injury or no, Matthews' captaincy has been very underwhelming so far. And Berube needs to Mauricebomb them after this "effort."

Matthews strikes me as one of those silent type "lead by example" captains. Half the season is gone and he's done nothing.

I say fired…the only small tiny consideration I give him is that these guys are talented enough to just free wheel and be successful in spite of him.
 
Time to break up the PP into two competing lines. The low Goals Against/great goaltending has covered up what a travesty the PP has been.

This is the first season in a long time where the Leafs keep getting shut out.
