Capitals vs. Maple Leafs - Oct. 24th, 6:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

If Washington continues to struggle, do you think there'd be takers for Ovechkin with 3 years left on his contract at 9.5 a year? Do you think Washington would consider moving him?

I just can't see Washington moving him or Ovechkin being willing to move on at this point.

He has a 10 team no trade, so theoretically, he wouldn't have a say for the other 22 teams.
I think it depends on how much Ovechkin wants to catch Gretzky and whether he thinks he has a better chance somewhere else. That said, I'm sure Washington would really like him to be on the Caps if he gets there.

If Ovi didn't have a Cup by now I could maybe see him being open to a trade. At this point though I'm sure both him and the organization/team would be content to just have him play out his deal and chase down the record and retire as a Capital.

I also don't really think the Caps just give up on trying to be a playoff team. That doesn't seem like a decision a group that just signed Tom Wilson long term would make. They'll keep pushing and avoid a full rebuild, even if it'll be unlikely to lead to any success.

At this point, even without the NTC, I can?t see Washington moving him without his approval. He may only officially have a 10 team clause, but he has a de facto full no trade.

Without an heir apparent, he's the only one that sells tickets there save maybe Wilson.

I don't see him going anywhere.

I agree that the likelihood is extremely low. I would think that the only way he moves is if he requests it.

It would behoove TSN to outfit Frankie with a setup and workflow for punching these videos out with polish and captions etc. so he's not stuck holding a phone camera up to his screen.
