Sharks looking at possibly the two worst head coaches in the last few years. What is going on over there?

I mean, this is conspiracy theory stuff but I mean if the Sharks are bad next year, it would give Wilson latitude from the fans to try and shop Thornton and Marleau around while, simultaneously, maybe convincing the two of them to want to leave.

Not that I think Hitchcock was the problem in St. Louis but it will be interesting to see what moves they make to try and improve a flawed team.  A coaching change might have limited how much movement they make.  Maybe St. Louis becomes a trading partner?

St. Louis is going to be a really interesting team to watch. They have so much depth both at forward and defence, and their prospect pool is pretty impressive for a team that's constantly making the playoffs. They just seem to lack that one great player to put them over the top.

Looks like the Sharks got Pete DeBoer:

There go our chances at getting a 3rd for Randy :(

Has to be said, pretty defensible choices all the way around. Buffalo is still without but assuming it's Bylsma or Richardson...not a stinker in the bunch.

Not that it's much of a surprise now but Hitchcock is officially coming back for the Blues next year:

Maybe. But honestly, If I were them I'd just sit tight and hope that they win the annual "cast-off goalie who has a monster playoffs" sweepstakes next year.

Not entirely surprising but TSN is reporting that Bylsma has an agreement with Buffalo.

5 year deal. Also, this:

TSNBobMcKenzie: PIT gets 2016 3rd rd pick from BUF as compensation. Pick was originally NYI but has condition attached to it, so PIT likely getting VAN pick

So...it doesn't have to be your own pick?

I guess you can negotiate some sort of settlement if you don't want it to be. You can sort of do the same thing with offer sheets - you can negotiate to trade the compensation picks back to their original team for assets you'd prefer.

I guess. You'd figure Pittsburgh would want Buffalo's pick though.

Probably, but maybe this was a situation where they'd rather get something instead of nothing. I don't know how much remained of his contract with the Pens, but if Buffalo was willing to walk away from him if they had to give up their own pick (which, granted, is speculation on my part), they could have been left with his contract running out in a few weeks and nothing in return.
