It's stupid is what it is. You saw Arizona use Holland even though he was a non factor all game just because the coach knew he'd have that extra incentive against the Leafs. I don't understand Babcock sometimes.CarltonTheBear said:Zee said:Nice of Babcock not to bother giving Mathews the call against his boyhood team.
Yeah, I thought that was a little odd. I mean even ignoring the whole Arizona connection he was flying in OT.
We've also yet to see Nylander in the shootout this season.
I don't look at fancy stats. I didn't notice Holland generate any scoring chance all game.herman said:Not sure what you noticed, but Holland was matched up early on against Matthews and pretty much neutralized the whole line. Held him to 40% CF% when they were on together.

Can't fault Babcock here guys. Matthews was only 1 for 4 in shootouts, it makes sense to give others a go.

Do you really think they went with Holland because they thought he might have personal motivations as opposed to the fact that he's got a good record in the shootout?
It's a factor for sure. Holland would have never had a shootout attempt for Arizona so the coach is neither here nor there with him in terms of trust. Shootouts are a coin flip anyway, you go with a hope on each pick.freer said:gunnar36 said:Zee said:It's stupid is what it is. No one is to blame, 3 cross bars.
the only problem was not scoring them with double the shots.
?I think everyone was looking at him on the bench,? Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. ?I asked him ?how?s your percentage?? He said, ?I?m 0-for-2 this year, but I feel good?. Sometimes those things work out like that.?

I still can't believe this didn't go in.
