Leivo's been sent back to the Marlies, that would open up a spot on the roster for Lupul to be activated off IR if he's ready.

A loss tonight puts Arizona 8 points back of the Leafs but they'll have 2 games in hand. I don't really see them capitalizing on those extra games but you never know...

This is really it.

A loss tonight would be the pinnacle match for tank nation. A loss that us TN supporters could all rally around.

We could shout about it across the mountain tops.

WE WANT A TOP 5 PICK!! WE WANT A TOP 5 PICK!!!

Can you feel the excitement building?

I guess if you want them to tank it is exciting!

We all need something to get behind.  :-\

Well, the playoffs are so far from likely to be a thing for this team, so, might as well cheer for something they might actually pull off.

It actually only five games. That is it.

It's 9 point with every team ahead of the Leafs having games in hand. Right now, Boston is on pace to get 97 points. For the Leafs to match that, they need to earn 49 of the 66 remaining. That's a .742 winning percentage. That's not going to happen. It may only look like 5 games, but, there's only 33 left in the season. That's a lot to make up in that span, especially when the rest of the teams they're fighting with have more opportunities to earn points because they have more games left. It's over, dude. It's over.

Narrow losses with good play from some prospects and time for the players to learn some more defensive responsibility.

I can live with that.

(Not doing much for Horachek's prospects of a job as a head coach probably though)

And Shanahan passed Math back at Boston Latin HS, so he knows it too.  Let's get cracking on the blowup there, Brendo.

markhmasters: Bernier starts tonight

I suppose they gotta test him out in these situations before they really commit to him as being "the guy."

He only had to make half the saves he's used to making last night, so I guess it's not that big of a deal.

That, too. Coming off the break, I suppose he's probably well rested, but, at the same time, I think it's also important to get Reimer in to a game soon, too. Tonight seemed like the logical choice - though, with the lower quality opponents they have coming up, there are other opportunities. As long as they don't throw him to wolves against Nashville . . .
