Devils @ Leafs - Dec. 4th, 7:30pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

So does Bernier get the start against the VAN on Saturday. IMO he has been just as bad as the rest.

Personally I blame Reimer for at least 3 of these goals.

Kessel with a meaningless goal to make his disappointing performance tonight look a little less disappointing. It's still really disappointing, though.

Still waiting for that long stretch where Bernier doesn't look leaky. Just when you expect him to take off...

Typically Leafs. Look great in a couple games then throw a dud out there.

I think what we're seeing is that he's not a guy you can run out there for 6+ consecutive games. Carlyle needs to accept that.

It's his second season as a starter!

Their next six are against .620 or better clubs. They should have stepped on the throat of this injured .440 Devils club when they had the chance.

So? That doesn't mean he should be put in situations he repeatedly shows he can't handle. Not every starting goalie can go long stretches with a game off. It's up to their coach to recognize that and act accordingly. This was an issue last season, as well.

Not sure I agree with "repeatedly shows he can't handle." He was insanely good for long stretches last year, and only when he got injured did that let up.

He obviously hasn't found his game yet this year, it happens sometimes. Roberto Luongo was a notoriously slow starter throughout his career, but the goal would appear to be to allow him to play his way out of it and get on a roll. Because the coaching staff obviously believe that a hot Bernier is more valuable than whatever Reimer can bring to the net. And they're likely right.

No, it was pretty much the same last season. 4 to 6 really good starts, and then a pretty poor one. The difference is that last season, his good was much better than it's been this season.

You don't get players to play their way out of things by overplaying them when they haven't shown an ability to handle that. Bernier hasn't. Considering his time with the Leafs, I'd say he's much more likely to find his game if he get a break every 5 or 6 games. He was really at his best last season when Reimer was getting regular starts, and, not surprisingly, so was Reimer. What's most valuable to the team is to have both their goalies comfortable and playing well. Right now, I'm not sure they have either, really. Not consistently, that's for sure.

I thought so, too.  Here was a club (New Jersey) with seven players out of the lineup including Jagr, and yet, the Devils played with confidence & polish.
It was the Leafs who looked 'rusty' .

Oh well, you lose some, you win some, but the problem here is the next several teams are no pushovers.  Looks like the Leafs will have their work cut out for them, so to speak.  They'll need to get back to a winning streak again.

C'mon boys!

GO LEAFS GO!!

To those saying Reimer was best when he played regularly, his career save pct is above .935 when he has 9+ days rest, significantly higher than any other scenario.

Someone posted the graphic to Twitter the other day and I was surprised because I was in the he plays better when he plays regularly camp.

The whole team did play well.

I am expecting Bernier to start against VAN just because he is RC Fav right now. I would hope Kessel gets some rest before the next game. He looked like he was in pain all night. Kudo's to Kadri line and Clarkson line. Both lines help keep the team in the game. Time to pull up the big boy pants because the real teams are coming in to TO.
