Devils vs. Maple Leafs - Dec. 10th, 7:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

What do you think you had to give up for him when they are letting him go. Don't think a pick like 4th, 5th rounder could have gotten it done. Don't know till you try. Would you give a pick like that to get him? Or some scrub playing in the minors that Preds may have taken. I understand money plays into it and Leafs are tight on cap. You make it work great if not move on which maybe they did.
The fact that no one in the league was willing to part with that seems to be lost on you. It’s not that it would have cost much, it’s that not a single GM in the league felt he worth trading for.

Not only that but
The Leafs already have a young right shot offensive dman who is 2" taller and 25 lbs more muscle in Timmins.
A lighter weight like Fabbo is not the profile of dman that Treliving looks for.
He wants bigger, stronger dmen who are better at winning puck battles.
Benoit & Myers fit that profile.
Liljegren can tell everyone all about that.
Benoit hasn't been as good this season but it is early.
Jury is out for me on Myers but so far, he's not all bad.
With the Leafs improvement in GAA, they're doing something right with their dmen.
I don't think they're done yet. But Fabbro isn't the answer/profile they're looking for.
It strikes me as a 'grass is greener' or 'the one that got away' claim when it really isn't.
