Way to go, Eugenie!  It's a great day for Canadian Women's tennis!

She will play Russian Maria Sharapova for the semi-finals.

Great job by Eugenie.  The Davis Cup run and Bouchard's and Raonic's success in their respective field has brought a lot of attention to Canadian tennis that didn't exist before.

Here's hoping Raonic can finally breakthrough and beat one of the game's elite (Djokovic) in a Majors' match.

Action on now at Roland Garros in the Ladies Semi-Final matchup between Canadian Eugenie Bouchard and  Russian Maria Sharapova. as Bouchard wins first set 6-4 but Shrapova takes second set 7-5.

C'mon Eugenie, you can do it!

Bouchard fell to Sharapova.  Still, a nice run and it is good to see both Raonic and Bouchard inching forward with success.

Guess Sharapova was determined not to be outdone by a young Canuck on the rise.  Still, Bouchard, if she had been a little more perfect, probably would have made it more difficult for her opponent.

Look out tennis world, Canada's got talent!

Bouchard goes from 13th-ranked to top 10 with win in the 2014 Wimbledon quarter-finals over Kerber.  She now enters semi-finals against Romanian Halep, who defeated Eugenie in the French Open semis of this year.

Good luckl, Genie!

3 slams, 3 semis and also her 1st WTA title. It's shaping up to be a good year. The paper here had a piece on the front page this morning talking about her development and how she had played in a local Challenger tour event. Sadly, that event lost its title sponsor this year and is not being played this year.

Good start for Eugenie in this morning's semi against number 3 Halep - she won the first set in a tiebreaker and is now 1-1 in the 2nd set.

Wow - Eugenie Bouchard beats Halep 7-6, 6-2 to move on to the finals of Wimbledon against 6th ranked Petra Kvitova.

Good luck Eugenie! :)

Halep hurt her ankle during the 1st set tiebreak, I'm not sure how that effected her play for the rest of the match.

Probably somewhat.  But then, the tennis gods shone on Eugenie! :D

Three cheers for Genie!! :) :) :)  Simply superb!

She'll play against six-seeded Petra Kvitova on Saturday in the Women's Wimbledon final.

Way to go, Canada!

Know where I'll be Saturday morning. According to the WTA site, they've met once before. That was last year in Toronto during the 2nd round of the Rogers Cup. Kvitova won 6-3 6-2. The women play in Montreal this year so I'm sure Centre Court at Jerry Park will erupt for Genie. Even more so if she wins.

The H2H is a small sample size, but this and the 2012 Wimbledon junior title is clearly showing that grass is her best surface.
