Fixing the PK

Were we perfect on the PK tonight? :-)

I think it is safe to say the PK has been fixed.

The subliminal 'long embroiled pointless war' connotation really works but can't we just neuter this puppy and get it over with...?

Any idea why Wilson has Gardiner killing penalties (especially 5 on 3)? He lets the guy in front of the net do whatever he wants and the best parts of his game (mobility and passing) are useless on PK.

On-the-job training.  If he's going to be on the blueline for years, he needs to kill penalties.

Watch what his d-partner is doing first before you get upset with what Gardiner is (or isn't) doing.  He's usually alone dealing with guys he should't be, thanks to Schenn wandering around all over the G.D. place.

I'm going to guess that this comment was posted because the last 5 on 3 the Leafs had was when Phaneuf and Schenn were in the box.

Your choices then were Gardiner, Gunnarsson, Franson and Liles.

Gunnar was the obvious first choice, then I'd put in the speed of Gardiner in on a 5 on 3 so he can disrupt people.

Here we have Justin Bieber working on the PK with the Leafs. Wilson figures it can't get any worse......

would be nice if Deon gave him one of his top notch body checks.

72.7% it's sort of ridiculous at this point.  The Leafs are so much worse at this than so many other teams.

2% behind the 29th place Blue Jackets, and over 20% behind the Devils in 1st place.

O_o

The Devil's PK has been unsustainably successful - it's more than 5% higher than the best full season percentage post lockout. I know this is a topic for another thread, but, that, combined with the fact that only 3 teams have less regulation + OT wins than the Devils are big reasons why I expect them to fade away in the 2nd half.

The Devils use: Parise, Zubrus, Henrique, and Elias as their forwards killing penalties.  Leafs use forwards hanging on to their lunchbox for most part.

It's crazy:
Hedberg has 6 GA on 84 shots on the PK = .929 SV%  (.913 SV% for season)
Brodeur has 3 GA on 68 shots on the PK = .956 SV%  (.884 SV% for season)

Meanwhile for us:
Gustavsson has 15 GA on 87 shots = .828 SV% (.898 SV% for the season)
Reimer has 19 GA on 82 shots = .768 SV% (.901 SV% for the season)
