doing the same things over and over and expecting them to change.

That isn't the definition of anything! Hulk smash poorly attributed nonsense!

Fine. Let the Leafs keep doing the same thing over and over. You'll be long dead (as will I) before they get the Grail.

The only thing we can control is our own perspective. Our views on the Leafs isn't going to change anything one way or another - which is why I find it interesting that some posters actually seem somewhat angry at Leafs fans who are still supportive of the team. If you're not interested in the team (win or lose) then what's keeping you? I think one possible definition of insanity is someone complaining about something to no end and not doing anything about it. If the Leafs make you that miserable then I can't imagine why you're still a fan.

The wool isn't pulled over my eyes, and I don't feel they're "fooling" anybody: this club isn't the best run in the NHL, it's not a contender, it won't be for some time, and the rebuild is rough if it's happening at all. I personally don't think the Leafs owe me anything other than entertainment and banter, and it does that for me, and to some extent keeps me sane. If my self worth was tied up in the Leafs I'd have a lot of issues. I'd be thrilled if they won a championship, but if they don't then c'est la vie, they're the horse that I choose to back right to the bitter end.

Sadly they do not entertain me. Hell, they seldom amuse me.

Well I am doing something about it...I'm complaining!  ;) ..and my interest has certainly waned for many years. That's about all I can do. Unfortunately for me it appears, they will always be my own horse as well, but to have the advantage of never having to monetarily worry about
the financial side of the business and yet still be such a hockey-joke is beyond sad.
