GDT - Hamilton @ Toronto - Boxing Day - 1pm

The Marlies have a rare Wednesday night game tonight, playing the Lake Erie Monsters. You can find a preview of the game here: http://blog.marlies.ca/preview-marlies-monsters/

Kadri, Zigomanis, and Gardiner will all be out with injuries. All three are not expected back until after the Christmas break. I haven't really seen much made from this, but today in his talk with the media Eakins plainly said that Gardiner has a concussion. Not concussion-like symptoms or whiplash, but a concussion. I thought that was a little odd as in the past he's made it clear that it wasn't a concussion.

Rynnas will get a second straight start. The lines are as follows:

Ashton ? Colborne ? Deschamps
Hamilton ? Aucoin ? Scott
D?Amigo ? McKegg ? Frattin
Ross ? Acton ? Ryan

Ranger ? Kostka
Fraser ? Holzer
Blacker ? Gysbers

Scrivens in net. Ashton, Colborne, and Frattin lined up together.

Finally made it to Ricoh after my car battery called it a Silent Night.  :( Thankfully I'm a CAA member.

Anyway, 1-1 after 20 minutes. Ryan Hamilton scored a beauty of a breakaway goal, the 75th of his career, to become the franchise's all-time leading goal scorer.

Looks like Kostka and Abbott are making good arguments for when the season starts again.

Abbott scores again! 12pts in 12 games!

The Marlies host Hamilton this afternoon at the ACC. It's being reported that the game is sold out, which is great to hear. Kadri is a game-time decision while both Zigomanis and Gardiner will remain out with injuries. The game is being broadcasted on Sportsnet One so hopefully there will be a stream of that feed available.

Sweet. I missed the juniors so this is a good consolation.

Stream of the ESPN America broadcast playing the feed from Sportsnet One. Better than AHL Live!

Kadri just took a blindside elbow from Zach Stortini. Was down on the ice until they went to a TV timeout.

edit: Wasn't a head shot, but still a blindside elbow to Kadri's chest. He got off the ice on his own feet. Stortini got 5 and a game.

edit 2: Kadri's back on the ice, so he looks ok.

Toronto Sun says he was groggy in the dressing room, complaining of headache and sore rib. "We shut him down" not taking chances, according to Dallas Eakins.

Hopefully this one is a situation where something like whiplash might be the culprit and not a concussion. The hit itself was to Kadri's chest and going down it didn't look like he hit his head on the ice or anything. Obviously I'm not doctor though, I'm sure a concussion is still possible in that situation.

Kadri will not travel to Grand Rapids for the two games vs. Griffins this weekend.

dallaseakins: Kadri reported today with no headaches. Was put thru a nasty bike ride and finished with no issues. Rib inj has flared back up. He is out.
