General Leafs Talk v2.0

I think Bodie makes one or both of Orr and Mclaren redundant. Certainly Gleason replaces Fraser.

I can't see anyone picking up any of those three on waivers, except maybe Tortorella for the next Calgary game. Ha! There, piles of money off cap no doubt.

Yeah, make room for the Bodie, he's been real good for the Leafs.

Just read on Twitter that the Leafs are still on pace to have the most shots against in NHL history.  I know some don't care, but that just blows my mind - more than some of those expansion teams that were laughably awful?  That's insane.

I don't think that's actually true anymore. From what I can find, they're on pace to have the 2nd or 3rd word SA/G since at least 87/88, but, their pace has dropped below the pace of the Sharks of 92/93. It's close, though.

Okay I was wondering - and that sounds right as the shot totals have been trending downwards a bit (I don't think they could have gone higher).

Yeah. Coming into the season, the 5 worst SA/G for a non-lockout shortened season since 87/88 were:

92/93 Sharks - 36.7
93/94 Kings - 36.3
90/91 Nordiques - 35.8
88/89 Pens - 35.7
87/88 Hawks - 35.7

The Leafs currently sit at 36.2, which would put them 3rd worst in that span if they don't improve on that pace.

Ok lets surf the net and find all the negatives about the Leafs..  ::). How about we point out the positives, like we just passed the Habs, and are in fourth.

Or, you know, we could look at all the facts and not just the ones that make us feel good about the team.

This team is lost without star offensive forward David Clarkson.

The team has been lost defensively without him. Probably because of the lack of offensive zone time.

I can't tell whether you're being serious. Clarkson is a terrible defensive player, and not a very good possession guy.
