Possibly better suited for the useless thread but I just found out that I worked for a long while Adam Bennett's old man. Story goes that Wendel Clark effectively ended his career. Kind of explains why the old man was such a grump. Anyway, anyone remember this?

FUN FACT: Leafs havent strung together a 5 Game+ winning streak since Feb 8th 2007. Just saying...

I do think we have a good team now, but numbers like that need to improve...

I don't have access to ESPN magazine but if anyone does and can elaborate on this it would be appreciated.

Are they really this bad? I thought I was doing good by lowering my expectations quite a bit, but this appears to be even lower than that.    :o

ESPN The Magazine ranks Leafs as worst franchise in four major sports. They have Leafs at 122nd. I figure 116th is just about right.

For what it's worth, the Coyotes were the top ranked NHL team on this list, so . . .

If he's talking about what I think he's talking about its a ranking that is fundamentally about success when measured against the cost of attending a game. Because the average ticket cost of a Leafs game is, last I checked, the third highest of any sport(and highest of any non-NFL team) and they're not very good it's a pretty straightforward ranking. It's not really news though.

You can find the criteria for it here, and where the Leafs finished in each area.

How do the Leafs rank that poorly in openness and consideration to fans by the players?  I thought the Leafs did a pretty stand up job of doing charity work in the community?

I do enjoy vague categories that don't really point to anything.  It's hard to argue against the Leafs doing a crummy job of rewarding the fans with much.  They kind of suck.  They certainly don't win a lot and they cost a lot of money to see live.

Well, if the article is to be believed it's based on fan polls and some sort of research done at the University of Oregon and, to be fair, the category is openness and consideration to fans from owners and coaches as well as players.

From personal experience though the Raptors/Jays have more of a public face in the community than the Leafs do.

I had heard this from other people too but was kind of skeptical just because the list hadn't been officially published yet, but now it's up:

http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/teamrankings

The Phoenix Coyotes are the 6th best franchise in the 4 major sports leagues folks. The reigning Stanley Cup champions are the 9th best NHL team, right in between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers.
