Giordano traded to the Leafs

Dubas won?t learn and Keefe is going to be his demise.  Overpaid again for a vet and got diddly for Dermott whose more reliable than either sandin or liljgren. Last nights manhandling by the preds is an insight to this year?s playoffs again.
The leafs will be battered and beaten and won?t know how to play against that style.  They?ll believe the refs will give them pp opportunities but either they?ll fail or it will go dry and once again we?ll have another tale of woe !  So pathetic to see this again. Why won?t they learn that playoffs need physical play not ?fancy Dan parameter players?
Well Dubas has written his epitaph!

If you think Dubas isn't done yet, what do you think he's after?
I'd think another depth forward. Not sure they can squeeze the cap though. If they can find a way to unload Mrazek it might be something they could do.

I'd call this a medium-risk bet.  Dubas gave up a considerable amount to get an ex-Norris winner who's on the back nine of his career, but if he delivers defensively as the (fairly rah-rah) analysis on MLHS suggests he can, he will help insulate our sketchy goaltending ... and that's probably the best bet in this year's Rando-palooza that is the NHL's idea of a playoffs.

Dubas had no choice but to respond to the rivals' latest moves.  We are burning the prime of 34 and 16, and 88 too.  In fact, I'd say that Giordano's acquisition, while it decreases the pressure on the goalies, backhandedly raises it on Nylander (and Tavares).  Those guys have to find a way to score in the playoffs or we are sunk.

(S)he had me at ?parameter players?

On the Kraken game (6-4 loss) Giordano did some impressive defensive plays. If Blackwell is a good fit for the 2nd or 4th lines, Dubas could have addeess two needs in one trade.

He didn't gave up any prospect and the Leafs still have their 1st round pick. If you recoup the Dermott's returned pick, he improoved the Leafs position on the 3rd round.

I don't know if he is done, but the Leafs won't do anything until they know the waiver results, and based on the price that Florida, Boston and Tampa were paying, the Leafs made a bargain deal.

How about Oleksiak?

Hulking. Long stick. Pushes dudes over. You know, what this team really needs. Oh and also from Toronto.

What gives you the impression that he was available? And you really think you?re getting him for 2 2nd round picks?

It's not a horrible deal.  It slots everyone really well on the defense.  As someone else mentioned, if Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares can't score in the playoffs, or if this team can't get reliable goaltending then they aren't going past the first round.

Also he has a five year deal at 4.6M. Seattle would never do that.

Bunting - Kerfoot - Blackwell would be a fun and feisty bottom 6 line
Swap in Tavares to make it a 2nd line if you don't care for the Harvard connection.

Dubas has a good track record for players he's tried to acquire numerous times in the past. I'm excited to see how he plays.

It's the same Hyman, Bunting type he has a good eye for.
He has previously tried to get Coleman and Gourde.
