So if Vancouver wanted our first and second pick for Luongo - would we do it? If not, would we do our first plus Komi?

Lou has a contract which is atrocious in length and at some point if not already may become an albatross. That will not be easy to unload. Vancouver has no leverage here and if Burke should choose to could snag Lou on the cheap. If not he will continue to let in softies on a very talented Vancouver team while Schneider continues to show he is the best of the two time and time again.
A 2 to 1 win/loss ratio, .919 sv. percentage, 5 shutouts; all for a $5.3 M cap hit? Not even close to an albatross. I'd say it's on the cheap side.

You know, something that happened once (twice, if you want to stretch the definition of 1st rounder to include prospects drafted in the 1st round), so, clearly, it's a tradition. I mean, it's not like Burke flat out said he won't be trading the Leafs' 1st round pick for a goalie . . . oh wait, he did.
He also said a rebuild would not take 5 years (note: that was his elf imposed limit, not mine) and that he was building from the goal out and, oh yes, something about truculence etc and how his teams don't get run, they run other teams. Then last year at this time he was going to get a centre to play with Kessel.
The chasm between what Burke says and what Burke does dwafs the Grand canyon.

Luongo is playing behind a very good team defencively...with the Leaf defence as it is,he wouldn't make much difference.I'd give them Komi if he'll go and a 3rd rounder..at best.Jolly good show chaps said:So if Vancouver wanted our first and second pick for Luongo - would we do it? I don't know how anyone can gloss over the fact that he is not starting. In the playoffs. This is a huge deal and many players have asked to be traded for lesser slights.

He did, and she still lives there with their kids if I recall correctly. I remember a couple of years ago he went home for the birth of his kid right before the playoffs started and they ended up losing the games he missed, and didn't make the post season.
There have been rumors that he wants to move back east after this season due to the strain on the family.
I think he goes to TB.

Welcome to Planet Hyperbole...
The word was re-tool and 'not interested' in a five year rebuild but whatever, building from the net out included signing free agents Owuya, Rynnas, Scrivens and Gustavsson while drafting Sparks.
The Leafs defence corp has been changed dramatically since his arrival.
He signed a number of 'truculent' players but Wilson didn't coach like that, wasn't asking for that and the Leafs weren't drafting like that prior to his arrival ( so there wasn't much of it kicking around ) and the free agent market wasn't chock full of it either. He signed Connolly with the notion of playing him on the top line, hedging on Bozak and has drafted fairly 'truculent' so far but they're up the pike as of now.
Now, if you want to say he's made mistakes and has failed to deliver a playoff team so far, fine fair enough, but as far as I can see he's been going about his business pretty much the way he said he would.
So, what was this tradition you were yammering about? If Burke doesn't trade his first round pick for a goalie will it make you happy?

If you believe Canuck fans on his worth, it is pretty low right now. I don't think Luongo's done himself any favours with his play, and that contract is a brutal commitment. From Vancouver's perspective, gaining cap space along (long term at least) is quite valuable.
Sarge said:Assuming I want him (and I'm not sure I do at the moment.)
Colborne or McKegg + our 2nd round pick + a salary dump (ie. Komi, Connolly, Army.) I don't know, am I even close? Like I said, I'm lost.
