Grabovski Bought Out

I don't know if it's telling or just strange than komisarek gets a contract day 1 and grabovski is still waiting.

I'm not surprised, and it's no knock on Grabbo.  There are only 60 top 1st/2nd line centres in the NHL, a generally well-paid position for which there are very few openings among those 60 across the league.  On the other hand, there are 210 defensemen carried on rosters across the league, and the 5-7 spots are often in play for virtually every team.  There's no team in the league that wouldn't look at an experienced stay-at-home guy as a depth defenseman at a decent price.

My guess is Grabovski's getting married this weekend has gotten in the way of him making a decision. I'm sure the offers were/are there.

Actually really like this. I'm going to start using it.

I was going through life, minding my own business, then *bam* marriage got in the way.

This made me laugh real good!

Some (obscured) pictures of the Grabovski wedding...

A little late to this and slight OT so, yet again,  my apologies (again). But, this kind of reminds me of 2002, when former Leaf Dimitri Yuskevich (sp) alluded to shooting a puck to Pat Quinn's head on his first game back after he was traded to Florida. I know he didn't mean it, since he didn't end up doing it, although the Panthers did win that first game against the Leafs. When asked about how it felt to beat his former team on the first game back, Yuskevich answered "empty". Don't know why, but it kind of stuck with me. I really respect Grabovski's honesty with the press and I understand that not all player's are that forthcoming either. I know another team will sign him and I hope he does well in the future.

From the agent, so take it for what it's worth.

While Grabovski was not snapped up during rush hour of Friday?s free agency and is still available as of Sunday, Gary Greenstin says that is partly because he and the player are fielding multiple offers. ?I never comment on negotiations, but several teams are interested,? Greenstin said Saturday.

Asked if that meant, say, three, four or five, Greenstin repeated ?several.?

Burke weighs in

Burke said he wouldn?t have torn up the deal for Grabovski as a singular act to free up cap space, but lauded successor Nonis for having a plan to allocate those resources to land David Clarkson.

Are KHL teams included in the "several"?

The article says he's definitely staying in the NHL, so I'm guessing no. Though it won't happen now, I think he would have been a good fit for Tampa Bay.

I've read the Blues were somewhat interested, but it looks to me Washington and the Islanders could use another center. Nashville's had a long-standing interest in him.

Was hoping he'd land in Detroit or Ottawa, as I think he'd flourish on either team, and, if the former, that he'd make 24/7 worth watching.

Yep like you say, Agents never exaggerate or well...lie. I liked Grabbo a lot and I hope he lands in a good situation. I thought Nashville would scoop him up in a heartbeat and let him loose.

I expect him to be signed very soon, there are plenty of teams that could use him and have cap space.

Edit: looking at Winnipeg, they had Antropov and he's now a UFA, replace with Grabovski, move forward.

Winnipeg could definitely be a landing spot for him. They just lost Burmistrov the KHL as well.

It's not personal Grabby, it's simply business.

I wonder if he has any tact.  Might of worn out his welcome with more then just the coach.  Didn't hear too many teammates come to his defense.

His defence of what? Who in any official position has said anything bad about him?
