Dreger "Bolland does something every shift. I thought similar of Getzlaf when watching Anaheim win their Cup"

Oh my...

That really is among the most absurd things I've heard Dreger - or anyone else who covers hockey at the national level - say. Just . . . I mean . . . wow.

Just another example of Leafperbole.  A rare positive one, mind you.

It's really a shame how many great players Carlyle has run out of town. Reimer, grabovski, Clarke MacArthur, plus others. He is doing more damage than a bad gm would.

Clarke MacArthur was run out of buffalo and atlanta before he was run out of TO.  I think when your one your 4th team you have to look at yourself as part of the reason.

my take on tonight: play a full 60 minutes. play like you care. play to give everyone watching their monies worth. don't get badly outshot. don't let in the first goal. capitalize on the PP.

Two other franchises known for their top notch hockey operations.

McLaren will be flipping burgers at the ACC next winter or hauling suds on the stairways and in a strange way this will help the organization better than what he did this year

Similar to when Wayne Gretzky was on his 4th team with the Rangers, right?

MaCarthur was traded to Atlanta for a 3rd and a 4th. He was given 2.4 million in arbitration, which Atlanta thought was to much, and he was let go. Then the Leafs signed him cheap and let him go as a free agent. How does any of that constitute being "run out"? Can you not say that the majority of players in the NHL have been run out of two or three places as well?

I don't think it does but I think when Clarke MacArthur is being hailed as a "great player" then there's probably going to be hyperbole in return.

he's nearly a point per game player with Ottawa and he's a +8. Shall we compare that to Clarkson? Rabid fans like you are the reason why Toronto has not won the cup since 67. Don't get me started on grabovski either. He is having a decent year in Washington.

"We'll see how the game goes," Carlyle said. "Obviously you'd like to get more people involved the hockey game. Everybody talks about a four-line game. Four lines this, four lines that but we haven't been really went that mode.

Not only does this make no sense in the context of what he's been doing with the 4th line all season, that last sentence doesn't even make grammatical sense.

Good point. I was also going to defend the "plus others" that were run out of town but their respective hockey profile pages seem mysteriously hidden.

I like how Frazer McLaren is a healthy scratch for the Marlies.

McLaren is tailor made to be a healthy scratch.

Valuable to any club as a healthy scratch.  You don't want one of your good players taking up those healthy scratch press-box lineup spots and McLaren provides size and is a good character guy up there.

How is 48 points in 66 games "almost" a point per game? Mac was easily replaced by Raymond at a third of the cost.

he gets a point 72% of the time. Much better than Clarkson who should be with the marlies.

Let's not argue about who specifically replaced who to get the stats aligned the way we like them --- overall, the offseason was a pretty big disaster for Nonis.  The Leafs look like they have a huge penalty against them now for at least the next 7 years pending when Clarkson gets bought out.  (And we were so close to be done with that a la Tucker contract!!!!)
