Man, Clarkson better become a consistent 25+ goal guy, or that contract is going to worst contract in the league bad.

Clarkson is an animal.  I think he produces good numbers and even if he doesn't he will be out there on one leg throwing himself at defenders on every shift.

Kind of like ... Grabovski?

Yes. Exactly like Grabovski. Except, of course, that Grabovski doesn't hit anyone and Clarkson does they're very similar in terms of hitting.

I would say that it's somewhat telling that we haven't heard a ton of teams in on Grabo.

But I'll bet you wouldn't be jumping at the opportunity to sign Clarkson at "under $6 million" for 7 years instead, would you?  Let me know if I'm wrong ...

Josh Rimer saying Leafs got Clarkson.

7 years also.

Eek.  AAV better be a healthy number.

Jesus H. Christ.  Seven-year deals are for franchise players.  People like ... well, like Jesus.

Eh, Jesus is overrated.  Walking on water isn't such a big deal in hockey.

Good point.  I guess Jesus is more in line with Clarkson than I thought.

I'm okay with 18-22 goals for Clarkson as long as he helps the team win. For me, the wins are more important than the goal totals.

Good thing that he's coming off of such a successful season with his club then.

DarrenDreger: $21M for 5 years. Bozak Leafs

Meh. Not totally awful, but not good.

Too much term, in my opinion.  I suppose I could accept that value as our 2nd line center, for what he brings.  At least we're not totally boned for faceoffs. ;)

We are talking about the same player, right? -- Pinball Grabovski, you know.

Brad Boyes > MacArthur

He's a guy I've been hoping we pick up.

Why?

Good opportunity for price/performance.

48 GP, 10G 25A, 35PTS last year for 1 M.  He would fit nicely in our open 2nd line RW position, could probably be had for < 3M, and would probably register 25G, 60 PTS.

I don't think Boyes will come close to matching those numbers TBH. He was really just there for the ride with Tavares.

He's had similar numbers for the last several years, save for a recent year in Buffalo.  Maybe 25G was optimistic, but 15-20G and 50-60 PTS should be attainable.

That's MacArthur production with a lower cap hit.

He was certainly a good player a few years ago, but I'm not so sure he's at this stage now. Like I said, Isles fans considered him the beneficiary of playing with Tavares, and they didn't really consider him a good player.

Does he really hit though? He would take abuse, and get right back up, but I don't think I saw him laying other players out.

Really hope both the term and cap hit are way off on Clarkson if the Leafs are hell bent on adding him. 7 years at under 6 mil for a player that has only one good full season under his belt, doesn't kill penalties, is definitely physical but actually had less hits than Kulemin this season. Hopefully it's not true.

I'm glad that Bozak didn't get more, but honestly I don't think he should get that much still. 3,5-3,75 million per season or so would have been more fair imo.

No. I'm not a big Clarkson fan and don't like that deal. Don't see what that has to do with nobody thinking Grabo is the steal of the century though.
