Hextall fired in Philly

Leafs beat Philly 6-0 and they fire their GM and waive their goalie. Pickard anyone? Do the Marlies need him?

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Leafs are the only team that could claim Pickard and send him directly to the Marlies since we originally lost him on waivers.  If another team puts in a claim he has to stay up in the NHL.

Yes they can as long as no one else puts a claim in for him. Leafs would have had first chance at him to but he's played too many games. I think this is a no brainer for the Leafs. He was great last year for the Marlies and they're struggling there now so it would make sense.

Not sure any other team puts a claim on him based on his numbers. He probably needs time in the AHL to get his confidence back

And that's the thing. Any other team would have to keep him on the roster I believe so another team claiming him seems pretty remote.

Please god let this happen.

Well Randy Carlyle will need a job when he's fired from Anaheim after this season.  :D

How quickly did Anaheim say yes?

As long as they employ Randy Carlyle as their head coach, I'm not sure Anaheim is what one would call "cutting edge" when it comes to personell hirings. I bet they had to mull it over long and hard..

Chuck Fletcher, former GM of the Minnesota Wild, is reportedly the front runner for the job of leading this Flyer franchise out of mediocrity.

Two playoff series wins in 9 seasons.  Just the kind of success the Flyers need to rebound.

It's really quite a coincidence that so many of these NHL executives who get hired and re-hired based entirely on merit are the children of other NHL executives.

Looks like it's effectively done.

Hakstol's been fired for realsies this time.

Did he at least give the update on the goalie injury before he was canned?
