Hurricanes @ Leafs - Feb. 22nd, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Mitch Marner's worst game as a Leaf. When he fell down and couldn't take the pass to get the PP going in the 3rd drives home what a mistake it was to pay him $11m a year.

been fan of this site for so many years always reading post and rarely post but I had to tonight. A  Leaf fan for 45 years and this ranks as one of the worst performances I ever seen.  Each player should be embarrassed.  No clue what Marner was doing flopping all over the ice.  Dubas philosophy worked in the  OHL and AHL but his style of small, speed doesn't cut it in the NHL.  no heart no hustle no energy.  I said this to people over the past year how different would this Team be if we kept Lou and Mark over Dubas?

Was that the effort Mitch was talking about, or the easy game Muzzin was talking about or both?
Mitch was horrible tonight. Willy and JT's line too. Matthews was playing by himself out there and the D didn't help Freddie too much. Hey Dermott even scored a goal on Freddie to make it 4-1. Totally awesome lol.

Jesus Nik, Avro log off for the night or something.

Deal with him.  He's throwing insults and being offensive.  You're a mod.

You're both acting like 5 year olds. You've thrown offensive insults too. I'm locking this thread for 5 minutes to clear up all that garbage. Anything keeps up after that someone's getting a temp ban.

My bad on that one folks. Let the emotions of the night get the better of me. Sorry for my end of it.

I had a hard time getting to bent out of shape, just because this game was so ridiculous. I loved it. At the end of the day, it's all about entertainment.

Regarding the team, it's pretty clear with all of the injuries, they may be dressing the worst defense in the league, and it's going to get badly exposed now and again. If they limp in the the playoffs, no problem, but they should be moving whoever doesn't have term.

I understand if the Canes or League does something here but I really, really hope the Leafs don't do anything cute to honor Ayres. This should be an embarrassment for a club that's asked a lot of its fans over the years and, if I was being brutally realistic about it, I think the organization might be best served by quietly finding Ayres a nice job somewhere else.

You are a better man than I.  I will take some time, but I will need to consider whether I am as engaged with this group going forward as I have been to date.  If my staff were as disinterested and embarrassed my brand as much as these guys people would lose jobs ? many jobs.

One game on, three games off. Keefe referred to this team as immature and I agree with that assessment. It is an immature group. It's kind of like they thought "hey we beat up on the Penguins so we must be good" and then didn't put in the effort because, well, they're so good.

Should have realized when the zamboni driver came in that the game was probably over. They probably figured it would be easy from that point on, especially when those 2 quick goals went in. I thought it would be easy. Then again, I'm not getting paid $11 million to watch or play the game so I'm allowed that luxury.

What a stinker of a 3rd period.

God I hope they don?t.  He did an interview saying he would be at Leafs practice tomorrow.  For everyone?s sake I hope they give him the day off ? at least the day.

Although, with that said, the narrativeh is almost certainly going to be "The Leafs couldn't beat a amateur goalie" when they did on almost every clean look they got. Not getting those looks, which you can't honestly say is something that has plagued the team this year, is the embarrassment.

I mean, at the end of the day, this is still a team that's won more games than they've lost. You can't do that if tonight was truly indicative of anything.

I'm with Frycer. They can piss me off and all that crap in the moment but I look at hockey now and for many years as entertainment. Nothing more then that. I find it pretty funny that they imploded in the 3rd.
Dubas I think will stay the course but we shall see.

Bunch of f'n losers.
My prediction. If the Leafs and Habs both don't become sellers on Monday we will finish behind them come end of season.

Well you've said this team is trash all season....they finally have made me believe too
