Islanders @ Leafs - Dec. 29th, 7:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

The contact didn't interfere with his ability to make a save.  It's a goal and it should be.

Hitting the goalie in the head always impacts their ability to make a save. It impacts everything about how they're able to react.

Disagree. If you're allowed to smack the goalie in the side of the head every time a shot approaches the net, there'd be no need for smaller equipment to get the scoring up.

Bernier is friggin awful.

6 goals on 15 shots.

You know, I just looked on the TSN website and the Leafs-Islanders game report shows that the Islanders have a mere 15 shots on the Leaf goal. They have 6 goals.

I thought it had to be misprint

Apparently it is not.

So Bernier has stopped 9 and let in 6.

Why do we have a goalie?

Yeah, still, how do they screw that up?

There's no clear standard for goalie interference - which is part of the problem with having the officials on the ice involved in the video review. They should do the same thing MLB does with video review - everything goes to the "war room," where they have other replays to use as reference, and you have a small group of officials making all of these calls. That establishes a clearer standard.

Any news on Sparks injury.  Other than vague things like "out long term" I haven't seen anything definitive.

Really? Always?

Watching that Marchand lowbridge go unpenalized.. even weirder.

At least that was sort of away from the play. I have a hard time really believing that none of them saw any of it, but if all they saw was the end result, it's hard to call. I think the panel was right on that - the league should be able to make a call in on dangerous plays like that. There's no reason Marchand should still be in that one.

If it interferes with his ability to make the save, it won't count.  This one didn't.  It's that simple.

When it happens within that short a time frame of the puck being put on net, yeah. It impacts balance and vision, and, therefore, their ability to react.
