Game Notes

WPG
?Hellebuyck (19-12-4, 2.69 GAA, .920 Sv%) will likely start for the Jets
?It hasn't even been a full week since the Leafs last saw the Jets. In that time Winnipeg has had an OTL against the Wild and a win against the Canadiens

TOR
?Andersen (21-8-4, 2.73 GAA, .915 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Toronto's 10 game point streak came to an end against Connor "the good one" McDavid and the Oilers. There's no time like the present to start a new one though. Tampa just pumped them down to 3rd place in the Atlantic

Injuries

?Nathan Beaulieu - Lower Body - Injured Reserve
?Dmitry Kulikov - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Mark Letestu - Virus - Injured Reserve
?Bryan Little - Vertigo - Injured Reserve
?Dustin Byfuglien - Ankle - Injured Reserve/Suspension
Code:

?Trevor Moore - Concussion - Injured Reserve
?Andreas Johnsson - Leg - Injured Reserve
?Jake Muzzin - Foot - Injured Reserve
?Ilya Mikheyev - Wrist - Injured Reserve

I think what the Edmonton game showed us was that this team isn't very good and Keefe is horribly overrated as a coach.  I personally prefer to do my evaluation on the team based on the most recent game rather than the collective of games coming before it.

The Jets will be well motivated after losing at home against the Leafs recently, as the Oilers were.

Go Leafs Go!

Wow! You came to those conclusions because of one game. Interesting.

After reading it again methinks you may be spot on.

Better have a better effort especially from the top 6. Last game they did jack s**t. I thought we were luck to beat them last game. Laine had like a dozen or more shots. I expect a goal from him again. He seems to give it a little extra when playing against Matthews.

Top 5. Matthews was fine. Marner, Hyman and JT's line not. Need a better effort from the D also.

IC9?

Leafs currently 10th in the league in P%.

Tampa has really come together and are currently 6th.

Leafs PDO is a little unsustainable at 102.4 since November 20th (4th in the league).  They're at 100.6 for the season, which places them at 15th in the league.

Top 6 in the league season to date PDO:

Colorado - 102.9
Boston - 102.1
Tampa -101.6
Washington - 101.3
St. Louis - 101.3
Winnipeg - 101.2

The thing about the Leafs? PDO under Keefe is that?s their 5-on-5 shooting a save percentages are right in line with their numbers from the past couple seasons. So, it might actually be fairly sustainable.

There might be a drop off, but it shouldn?t be a significant one.

Dermott's with Holl tonight. Keefe said the Leafs need more from him so he's getting a shot in the top-4.

I like that idea...tests it out and if it works it makes it a lot easier to bring up Sandin and sit Marincin. Let Sandin ease his way into things again.

I know everyone is excited about Sandin but it's too easy to lose sight of the fact that he had some bumps in his 6-game test drive at the start of the season against pretty easy competition. Dominating at a juniors tournament against kids is one thing...playing against the top pros in the world is a whole other story. Better not to throw him to the wolves right away.
