Come on...
;D
He might not even be the most complete player on the top line.
I love the guy, but come on.
Corn Flake said:I would say the "face of the franchise" is a tie between Kadri and Lupul, with Kessel and Phaneuf still suggesting they aren't to be forgotten just yet.
edit: the playoffs are usually when the true best of the team step forward. we will know then.

Let's tone down the rhetoric.

The guy is pulling off the hockey equivalent of Kobe Bryant's game right now. Absolute game breaker. Its a thing of beauty to watch, especially it being a Leaf.

I love Lupul but I agree with you. As awesome as he has been, people are forgetting how much he has been injured. I heard the other day he's missed something like 150 games over the last 5 seasons.
Before anointing him Captain or the face of the franchise, I would want to see him put up consecutive 75+ game seasons.
It is extremely rare for a guy with such a lengthy injury history to suddenly become an "ironman" in their 30s. I'm sure someone could dig up a name or two but for each one of those I will show you 100 guys where the injuries kept coming. That's just the way it is more often than not.
I truly hope Lupul becomes one of those exceptions.
