Mirtle just tweeted this:
His defensive play leaves a lot to be desired, but his production is definitely on the border between 1st and 2nd liner.
gunnar36 said:not really sure how he earned the raise as his previous contract of 2.9million per year was signed coming of a season with 44 pts in 48 games (.92ppg).
Now he is coming of a season of 39 pts in 73 games (.53ppg) and awarded 4.1 mil?

Because he was coming off his ELC and that was a shortened season. This is nowhere near an overpayment.

Yeah I guess relative to Clarkson, Phaneuf and Kessel contracts, this is a bargain. I suppose I'm a little cynical because it seems like it's been a while that I could look at one of our top players contracts and say 'wow, that's good value for that player'. Van Riemsdyk might be the only one in that category.

Thanks for posting this.
I've always thought that Kadri's skills and ambition exceeded what his body allowed him to do at the time. Hopefully the new commitment to strength and fitness will let him be the player he believes himself to be.
Nazem Kadri: Wrongly Undervalued In Leafs Nation
Nazem Kadri is one of the most under-appreciated and undervalued players in the entire National Hockey League.
I?m not sure if it was the constant tire-pumping when he was drafted, his honest and outgoing personality or the power of the media in Toronto, but Nazem Kadri gets a bad rap for no good reason...
...If Nazem Kadri has a bounce back point season this year under Mike Babcock and whatever role the new coach puts him in then he?s going to hit the Toronto Maple Leafs cap account hard.
