Oh yeah different standards for different teams/players.......

Thats why kessel only was suspended preseason games for swinging his stick like a baseball bat.
Really thought he deserved more than he got there. He went back "hunting" and took several baseball swings right at what's-his-names ankles while he was tied up with other players. Looked like one of the more obvious cases of "intent to injure".

He took 2 swings.  One when Scott was coming at him that hit Scott on the front of his hockey pants around the front of the thigh area, and a second swing that seems to have maybe hit Scott in the skate, maybe in the blade, or maybe not at all.  It's hard to tell from the angle.

Also, I would hope no baseball players swing like that.

Tony Fernandez used to swing like that sometimes, usually for a hit.  :P

Really, eh?  Well with him I'd believe it!

Fine, the first swing was as he was trying to get away, but the second was after Scott was already engaged by two other Leafs and you can see Kessel thinking about and aiming his stick at Scott's leg (go ahead, tell me he might have been aiming for the ice). I don't know what he hit but it was obviously a deliberate act.

I thought it warranted more of a suspension, regardless of whether it was Kessel or someone else.

Burn Phil Burn him. He is a witch.  Horibble nasty man, he turned Kadri into a neut.

He is evil...go look at the tank thread...everyone's yelling at each other
Dividing brother against brother in a thread that calls for unity.
Pure Evil.

And also
"He turned Kadri into a newt?"

This is one place where perhaps you and I agree about Kessel.  He was going after Scott like Paul Bunyan after a big old white pine, and I for one wish he'd felled him.

This really infuriates me!  Ovechkin gets NOTHING for his hit to the HEAD of Komarov, yet, Kadri gets 4 games!

I'm disappointed to be honest. I don't think it deserved a suspension at all. I've watched it a few times and I don't think there was any intent at all and the other player had his head in a very vulnerable position.

Exactly, it was more just incidental contact, all be it to the head, but, not intended on Kadri's part IMHO!  I'm just incensed with the NHL.  They appear to be SUSPENSION HAPPY against Leaf players, and, ignore SUSPENDABLE OFFENSES COMMITTED against Leaf players!  Hello, NHL, Ovechkin's hit on Komarov, we're still waiting!!!

You had to know Ovechkin wasn't going to get anything for that hit...yes, he blindsided him and the result was a concussion, but it wasn't a direct hit on the head.

I'm not saying I agree with the decision, but...knew nothing was going to happen.

Just went through the video in detail.  Anyone notice the two guys that are sitting about 10 inches away from the hit.  Both of them having a conversation about something on a smart phone.  Totally missed what happened literally right in front of their face.  I'm sure one of them posted on a social media app that "they were right there man!"

OV is a star and probably one of the only reasons the team is being successful in Washington. In all fairness Kadri has done nothing in TO. Star players get breaks, mediocre players do not!

When it comes to PLAYER SAFETY, star player, or not, the penalties should be applied fairly across the board for players committing infractions.

Ovechkin should have received a suspension for his hit on Komarov, no questions asked.  The NHL has been extremely guilty of picking and choosing which players, from which teams, get suspensions or not.  This has to end IMHO.

It has been like that for decades. I dont see it ending any time soon.

The only reason I care about this suspension either way is that it makes Kadri more of a repeat offender when it comes to any future questionable hits, during seasons in which I actually want the Leafs to win.

To which I'd say that hopefully this teaches him a lesson in this meaningless bunch of games so that he doesn't do it in the future during the gooder seasons.

Well then, he'll have plenty of time to learn not to make contact with opposing player's heads, as it may be a number of years before our Leafs have any 'do gooder seasons.'  LOL
