Ken Dryden 1947-2025

Got to meet him a couple years back at a fundraiser for the West End Phoenix. He was incredibly nice, and an amazing storyteller. RIP.

Nice, interesting man. Very full life.
Great goalie obviously. He has some insane numbers like career .714 playoff win% for games he started or .753 career pts win% - helped by having one of the finest teams ever assembled playing in front of him, league expansion and a shorter career playing in his prime. But he sure did his part: 6 Cups, 5 Vezinas in 8 seasons, Team Canada '72 (couldn't play in '76 due to injury) and won the Conn Smythe before he won the Calder. He took the starting job away from Vachon who was a very well regarded goalie. He seemed like a new breed of goalie - one of the first 6' 3-4" tall ones. Prior to that, they tended to be smaller with cat-like reflexes.
