Leafs 2012/2013 Schedule in 10 game chunks

Hey all. Not that this post means anything, but what a turn around that this team has accomplished compared to last year. If they make the playoffs (and that's a big if, cautious optimism), I won't expect much after making the postseason for the first time in nine years. But boy, it would sure be nice to see them there after nearly a decade. I sure hope that this is the start of something good.  :D

Welcome to the site!

Thank you Leafplasma.  :)

Actually, I was a member of the boards under this username since 2002 but when I tried to sign in again tonight, I was told that my username didn't exist. Maybe because it was a year since I last posted? Anyway, I really hope the Leafs keep this up. I am so sick of mean Sens fans.  :o

There's no two ways to look at it, this fourth set of 10 games has been fantastic.  6-1-2 so far with one to play, if they can go 7-1-2, best stretch of the year.

Previewing the final 8 before the PLAYOFFS!!!!
The final 8 games!!!

That Saturday match against the Habs I'm viewing as a sort of measuring stick.  The Habs have been a very well coached and structured team so far this season.  They've pretty much been in every game with the exception of the 6-0 hammering at the hands of the Leafs.  Hopefully Lupul can be back for Saturday, I'd really like to see what a full lineup can do against them.

MotM standings for fourth 10:
Lupul 8
Reimer 7
Kessel 6

Of note, first time Kadri doesn't factor into the top 3 point getters for MotM in any of the 4 chunks.

Final 8 games!!!!!

how many points do we need to secure a playoff spot?

According to my calculations, which very well could be wrong, we'll need 57 points to cover both the current 9th and 10th place teams (56 points assuming we have the tie breaker)

9. Winnipeg has 44pts with 6 games remaining
10. New Jersey has 40 pts with 8 games remaining

Obviously, every regulation loss by Winnipeg or New Jersey will bring the required point total that the Leafs will need to clinch down.

Assuming both Jersey and Winnipeg win all their remaining games which is highly unlikely.  Plus the Leafs play Jersey directly on Monday so we can put them out of their misery.

I predict 53 points will be enough for the final playoff spot.

I'm glad we play the Lightning/Panthers as two of the last three games (*knocks on wood*).

Win Saturday and Monday and Leafs are home and cooled away I think.

I totally agree, the numbers I listed were assuming that the 'peg and NJ win all their games which is highly unlikely.

I want this win tommorow, it would keep us up enough to not worry so much. we need to keep the spread at five.

Jets don't play again until Tuesday, so the next 2 Leafs games are the games in hand.  2 wins would essentially put the Leafs out of reach of them.

I so want us to go on a run to try for home ice, its a  long, long shot but you never know.

Normally I don't update for just 1 game, but you know.

How many W's can we count on for the final set Zee?

I gotta think 4 is quite doable.  Maybe something like 4-2-2 or even 5-2-1.  I see wins against Tampa/Florida, then perhaps Islanders and last Habs game.

Forgot about the Jersey game tonight which I think is very winnable.
