Leafs acquire Brandon Carlo

The reward is the Leafs don't have to to smush up against Carlo on the boards going forward.

Regardless of what went out the door, Treliving got pieces to plug the holes this team was running with.

I dunno. If Minten is the big piece going back, I'm good. Dewar and Timmins aren't losses.
If it's Minten plus secondary stuff (plus essentially cap dumps in Timmins/Dewar) for a 50% retained Carlo thats fine asset management for me. Minten is a valuable 3rd line centre of the future and that does absolutely nothing for contending this year, next year or even the year after

If it is Dewar, Timmins and Minten for Carlo with 50% retained...that's another very decent deal.

Again have to wait for the official return, but if you told me before the deadline we would get a top 9 forward and top 4 defenseman, both 30 or under with term and both 50% retained (resulting in a combined just over $4 mil cap hit), I would have expected more than a 2027 1st and Minten as the significant assets going the other way.

Minten is going for sure according to TSN...
Not a surprise. I like Minten, but his ceiling is a good 3rd line C. Would have been nice to keep him, but not the most upsetting piece to give up.

Most important thing is that Carlo is not a rental, either. Giving up good prospects for longer term pieces is just business.
