Leafs @ Blackhawks - Dec. 21st, 7:00pm - CityTV, Fan 590

Better in the 3rd, but, I wonder how much of that is due to the emotionally draining day the Hawks had. They might just not have had much left in the tank.

I know it's been said 100s of times already on here, but I don't ever remember seeing Kessel play this disinterested. In the past, when he would go on one of his slumps he always seemed to be skating hard and even backchecking, but just wasn't getting the breaks.

Now, even though he has been putting up points, he seems extremely lazy.

And fully rested and wide awake in work!  ;D

The Leafs have normally raised their game against the top teams this year. But the malaise that has set in the last week or so on the back of the sloppy but winning play really did look exactly like every other collapse of late so I just decided to take a break.

I feel sick that I'm hoping for more Hawks goals, hopefully it'll force change.

The thing is, no matter how bad it is, I still want the Leafs to win. I also have ZERO faith that any changes will be made. We've been here before and it's been left as is to allow us to be here again.

Chicago skates with the puck.  Toronto dumps the puck.  Carlyle wants the Leafs to play Chicago's up-tempo game.  I honestly think the man is dense in the head.

A pretty good article about Shanahan.

Thank you. This was a wonderful read.

Agreed. I'm starting to like Shanny, and I believe that he'll do whatever it takes to turn this team into a winner. Unfortunately, this hockey market frowns upon a manager that can't deliver instant gratification to its fan base.

You think he'll still be around if this team fails to make the playoffs for another season or two?

Here's the problem with the point that you're trying to make: the team isn't improving or doing anything but getting fundamentally worse under Carlyle. This isn't a rebuilt or young team built for the future. Quite frankly without Bernier or Reimer, this team would have finished last place the past two years. Caryle has proven, like guys such as Renney and Quinn before him, that he is no longer suited for the post lockout lockout NHL. Anyone with a basic knowledge of the game and eyes who watches the Leafs regularly can see this. The Leafs have made the playoffs once in the last 9 years, with a single 1st round exit. What makes you think that patience is something that is lacking here?

Let me ask you this. Do you think Brian Burke deserved to be let go when we was, or should he have been given another season or two?
