Brian, you are right there about the b/u.
Maybe they deal Johnsson or Hyman. Maybe KK is the guy. I say screw it for now. Freddie you're in until further notice lol.

Engvall's playing centre now and getting PK time. I don't think Keefe is gonna want to let him go whenever/if we get healthy.
Problem is he makes too much. Someone making close to 900K will have to go.

Ah, true. It looks like he makes just a touch too much. It's kinda crazy to think because he makes too much at the NHL level he has to go back to making peanuts at the AHL level.
I'm starting to think that we could afford to trade Johnsson..maybe for a back-up goalie and a bit of cap space to let Engvall stay up
Ive been thinking that or Hyman for a while now. I like Johnsson but not on the 1st line and we need a back up. Lose CC and grab a dman too.
Yeah...Hyman or even Kappy are also possibilities. It's not that I don't like all three of those players but we've got too much of our cap tied up in forwards plus an excess of  NHL-able cheaper forwards in waiting (Moore's on the IR too)...better to cash in a little from that position of strength and convert that cap space into a more reliable back-up if such a thing exists. Trouble is, I can't think of any semi-decent semi-affordable back-up that might be available.
I'm keeping Kappy over those 2. His speed is such a threat. I'd lean toward keeping Hyman and Kappy over Johnsson at this point.
As for backup, not sure anyone is available without a trade.
I agree that I'd keep Kappy and Hyman if at all possible, but a semi-competent back-up goalie might be worth between 10-15 points in the standings if he wins 50% of the remaining back-up starts...trading any one of those three and replacing them with one of the other contenders isn't nearly such a cliff of a drop-off. At this point, keeping all these forwards is a luxury we can't afford.

Not a lot of choices when it comes to possible back-ups though (paywall)

3 penalties now on the leafs.  1 for the blues.  Every team plays so gentlemenly against the leafs.

Leafs have quit pressing.  Blues have been all over the leafs here in the 2nd. Still 4-1 though.  Leafs kill another penalty.

Hey refs call a penalty against St. Louis!  How bout that.

Yeah but they were PKing also. Decent kill. Let's see how the PP looks here.

I?d be curious to see what Tavares faceoff winning percentage is to start a PP. seems like he loses every time and we start at the other end.

Doesn?t matter!  Matthews scores again.
