Garbage officiating all game. Good of Babcock to chew them out

Agreed.  The penalty on Komarov?  Yeah, maybe you don't make that kind of marginal call with 3 mins left reffies.

There has to be a better option than Marincin on the Marlies

Yeah, Marincin sucks.

No he doesn't, he is a very serviceable bottom pair player, I hope he and Marchenko can form an adequate bottom pair.

He is physically weak and not the least bit aggressive despite his size. I can't stand watching him out there.

This!

I can't believe how weak he is as the biggest dman on the team getting consistently out muscled off the puck by EVERY Bruin player.  I also can't believe how much he avoids hits.  I prefer Carrick's game over Marincin's.  Wouldn't care if he didn't play again this season.

Gardiner has been making bone headed plays a lot the last few losses as well.  I was finally starting to like him.  I hope he can straighten out again.  He has been one of the Leafs best dmen this year so far imo.

Good to get the regulation win despite blowing that lead. Also nice to see Matthews get back on track with 3 assists.

Oh yeah Craig Button, Leafs should really trade Nylander. Ass clown.

I hope this guy out of of detroit is half decent, cause the D is a full on tire fire.

Everybody and I mean everybody forwards too was awful on defense tonight.

Like they've been on too many nights this season. Par for the course for a inexperienced team like the Leafs, but, just another reminder that their margin for error is pretty thin. Teams they're playing against won't give them the kind of opportunities Boston did tonight on a regular basis.

This game had no defence from either side (the Leafs and the Bruins), which worked in the Leafa favour thankfully.

As I had said in anothrr thread, I had every confidence that the Leafs were going to come up with a better effort (offensively) and thst it was bound to ignite.  Under Babcock, this team wasn't going to  flounder for too long, no matter the type of win it would be.

The Leafs played Novice hockey in their own zone. It was scrambled. They constantly handed the puck over at their own blue line. That's a recipe for disaster. I work constantly with my Novice team to eliminate those blue line give aways. It's nice to see Babcock and I will have to run the same practice today. :)

You could get picked up on waivers, and legitimately have an opportunity to play 20 minutes a night on this blueline.

I think the "Trade Nylander" camp takes it on the chin somewhat, and especially after the game he had last night, but the Leafs will likely have to trade some players we all like to get a couple of quality young defensemen to work on.

What I meant to say was: Marincin sucks when he takes bad penalties. Agreed?

Absolutely.

I believe he has not seen a shift since taking his 3rd penalty

Leafs played better with 5 d-men than they did with Marincin on ice.

Just read through the fan comments on the Boston Globes story. Rask roasted and much bellyaching about management. From  a Cup to this in just six years, one lamented. A couple mentioned Leafs speed & talent as being too much to handle.

Just for the record this is basically the note-exact example of the long warned against problem with getting good too soon.

I don't think the trade Nylander talk is because they don't value Nylander.  It's more that they see that Cap money will be needed for Matthews and Marner and some decent D.  They see Nylander as a means to fix both issues as he has great value on the trade front.

I don't know what these people think the Matthews/Marner cap hits will be but realistically there's no chance they'll be so high that Nylander will be a problem to fit under the cap. Even if Matthews gets 10 and Marner gets 8, which are both insane numbers for first contracts, you'd still have 55 million dollars to fill out the team. The best defensive teams in the league don't only have room for two high priced forwards.

Definitely true but it's very proactive to turn an asset of strength into increasing a weak position.  But I like Nylander so am OK with either direction.

I think part of the big concern is that it's selling too early.  If Marner plateaus or Matthews doesn't progress beyond 30G/60 point production it doesn't do the Leafs any good to pare away depth.
