Line-up Notes
TOR
?Most of the Leafs should be fresh for this game, since they didn't play the last one.
?Though they were held scoreless, Nylander, Matthews, and Marner combined for 14 of the team's 39 shots on goal.
?Last time these two teams met on Nov. 1st, they combined for 171 penalty minutes, 157 of which came in the third.

VAN
?The Canucks are coming off a 3-1 Thursday loss to the Anaheim Ducks, who previously helped them kick off a 9-game losing streak. Vancouver had been 6-3-1 in their last ten up until then.
?The NHL will have extra eyes at and on this game due to the shenanigans of the two teams' previous meeting, and Gudbranson declaring to anyone that could hear him that "Matt Martin's dead".
?It's Hunlak vs Hutbranson going head to head for the lowest CF% pairing prize.

Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - ?\_(ツ)_/? - Out indefinitely
?Stephane Robidas - Old - Out indefinitely
?Josh Leivo - Inconvenient - Injured Reserve
?CarltonTheBear - Personal Leave - Day-to-day

?Anton Rodin - Thinking - Out indefinitely
?Alexander Edler - Finger - Injured Reserve
?Derek Dorsett - Upper Body - Injured Reserve
?Jannik Hansen - Rielly Sore Ribs - Injured Reserve
?Christopher Tanev - Lower Body - Injured Reserve

Nice job Herman. Should be a good one tonight. I see 2 pts in the forecast for the good guys!

Thanks fellas.

So I threw together those notes from digging through game recaps and hockey-reference stats. Then I see the Canadian Press's pre-game primer published 9 hours ago containing similar points, which had me thinking... who Melania'd whom?

That's funny, I've seen quite a lot of stuff from here on the Leafs subreddit.

hehe to quote a line from Good Will Hunting: "No more SHENANIGANS. No more TOM-FOOLERY. No more BALLY-HOO."

Wouldn't surprise me. People are always looking to save time and cut corners. Doesn't matter which profession their in. Perhaps there are 'professionals' in our midst 'borrowing' ideas and pilfering off the volunteer work?

I pull a good deal of content from the subreddit over to share here. A one stop shop almost.

I think this case was more of convergent evolution. Obvious storylines and facts drawn from the same pool of data with standard sports article phrasing.

My guess is Martin fights someone in the first, the Canucks take a couple of runs at Kadri and then Martin fights someone again.

Oh and one of the teams will win, I guess.

"Do I mean it?" [Gudbranson] said Friday. "No. That's the honest truth. I'm not gonna kill the guy. But I was just frustrated at that point. Unfortunately, (the public reaction) got taken to a level that I didn't expect."

The only thing being killed tonight is the hype train :(

Hearing Bibeau has been called up? Any truth to that?

Edit: ? Antoine Bibeau has been recalled on an emergency basis by the Leafs. Frederik Andersen is expected to start but has been nursing an illness.

From MLHS game day notes.

Fine arts jokes in the GDT.  Very well done sir.

It reminds me of the time back in the day when the GDT turned into a whacked-out discussion of Anna Karenina.

I get that expecting any sort of journalistic rigor out of these broadcasts is stupid but why report "lower body injury" and "upper body injury" as if they're actual descriptions?

I get the teams clearly feel as if they have no responsibility to tell people what the injuries are and the league clearly agrees so why buy into the facade? Just say they're out and you don't know why.

I think Andersen should preemptively skate the length of the ice and smash Miller in the face.

Somewhat lost in all the new-wowism of this year is the fact that van Riemsdyk is a quality hockey player.
