Leafs @ Canucks - Mar. 4th, 10:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

Man that was a whole game of bad bounces. I think if the Leafs play like that they win that 9/10 times. On to the next.

Yup. They looked tired but were still the better team. On to the next.

See, this is why I don't like it when they start Hutchinson. If your 4th Goalie doesn't win every game he plays, clearly the team sucks.

That's why you need to run your starter coming back from injury into the ground. Duh!

Where's Arn?  Where's Sandinius?

Ya gotta question their fandom if they refuse to get up in the middle of the night to watch hockey.

Haha, I got a new job with a two hour commute so I'm regretably not going to be able to watch any more week day games this season.  :'(
See you on Saturday.

I actually woke up before the end of the third, checked the score, then decided it was game 3 in 4 nights and a comeback was unlikely so got another couple hour's sleep

You could certainly see the players were a little off in their passing and timing. It's not shocking after 3 games they played to perfection.

Hutchinson made a couple saves but those first two goals are terrible. The 2nd one killed the team.

A very wise decision.

I was watching on my phone in bed until some time after the score was 3-1. I drifted off and later somehow got the sleepy impression that the Leafs had lost 5-1. So only losing 3-1 is kind of a win for me!

Yeah. Those first two goals were shots that needed to be stopped - especially that 2nd one. His positioning on that was terrible. Why was he halfway into his own net along the goal line?

Nice!

Low expectations are the key to happiness.

Having worked with goalies for several years, one of the most glaring issues with Hutchinson is he doesn't follow the puck into his body. Or I should say, when pucks go in(like that second one), he's not following the puck into his body with his eyes. His head should be moving with the puck into his glove or chest or wherever. I've noticed it quite a bit this year. Especially on long shots. His brain is registering where the puck should be going based on the release point but that's a recipe for disaster.

When that 2nd one went in, I thought to myself "maybe they're teaching goalies something different?" I couldn't see why you'd want a goalie on the goal line when the puck is above the goal line, but I've been wrong before.

I think Hutch started thinking a pass across the ice but was too deep in the net that put him at that odd angle.  It was just bad positioning on a play where the Canucks were pushed to an extremely low danger position on the ice.

Still not the way you want a goalie lining up with a puck above the goal line. Mistakes happen. Note that he has no idea where the puck is though.
