Leafs claim Seth Griffith off waivers

Hunter likes him.  That's enough for me...
Well... just because you played on a AHL all star team (the Knights) it doesn't automatically make you a NHLer. I am pretty sure there are other prospects out there that don't come from the Knights. Hunter seems fiercely loyal to a fault?

I mean moreso in terms of legit RW prospects.  I hope all of those players turn out, but Kapanen/Bracco/Korostelev are far from sure things and Marner I wouldn't really consider a RW yet, and he'd be sort of a converted C, same with Nylander.

But I guess it's not as stark as I had it in my head.

Marner has played very little center in junior.  He's almost exclusively been a RW in London- that's all he played last season.  Between him and Brown, I actually think we have our 1st and 2nd line RW's for the foreseeable future.

Agreed that beyond that the rest are just prospects and aren't sure things.  I do think Kapanen will be an NHLer next year or the year after though.  He will fit on the 3rd line at worse, and will battle Brown for 2nd line minutes.  Any of the others I listed working out would be gravy.

Either way adding someone like this, for this cost, is a no brainer to me.

The main difference between Griffith and the listed prospects is that he's waiver eligible. As in, he's a bit older, deeper into his professional career. I'm thinking it might've been as simple as they wanted a young RW on the team, aren't certain that they can regularly start Brown or Kapanen this season.

I get passing on Pulkkinen but this confuses me a little bit. Is he a press box guy? A smallish AHL scorer?

There is a London Knights connection, for what it's worth.

I'm at a loss as to what that means.

Mark Hunter has tunnel vision.  Also take that Phil Kessel trade.

We should have gotten rid of 18 or 15 instead.

That is an indication that Hunwick might be ready to be off the IR.

Actually, as of tomorrow Leivo's LTI Conditioning Loan to the Marlies will expire as well, so he could be the one coming back and pushing a player out.

When both return another player needs to be moved.

Seth Griffith claimed off waivers by #FlaPanthers.

With injuries, he should find much more opportunity there than he got with #leafs.

Good luck Seth.

Well, I guess they want to keep Leivo over him.

Who's next?

Why do I hear the Andy of Maberry theme music every time I see this guys name?  Lets pick him up and send him to the Marlies where he can help shore up that squad and prepare Leipsic for his trip to the big team.
