Yeah, but I doubt his rights will be traded at all, let alone worth enough to get Severson.

Probably won't be enough to pick up a useful player like Severson, no, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Leafs do trade JvR's rights. When the draft rolls around, they'll have a pretty good idea of whether or not they'll be able to sign him at a number they're comfortable with before July 1.

See, I'm not so sure they'll know by then. I think that depends on what happens with Tavares.  If he's still unsigned, I think they would rather take the chance to spend JvR's dollars on Tavares.

They'll have a pretty good idea of what it will take for JvR to not test the market, regardless of what goes on with Tavares. And, if they're waiting on Tavares, they won't want to lock up JvR before July 1 any way.

I wonder if a player acquired at the trade deadline has ever had less of an impact than Plekanec has had with the Leafs.

Straight cheat job by the officials.

That last call looked bad considering everything they let go earlier in the game, but there were a lot of call they could have made against the Leafs tonight, and didn't. It was an evenly called game. Poorly called, but evenly called.

Marner hasn't been good the last 3 games, hope it's nothing to be concerned about

I've long been an Uncle Leo fan, with his agitating style of play and effort plus he could be counted on to chip in on offence as well. I knew this was his last contract year and was hoping Leafs could bring him back.

That was at the beginning of the season.

I still see the effort but yee gawd has he slowed down and he's a black hole with the puck.

Thanks for your time as a Leaf Uncle Leo....
Good post, I feel exactly the same, today you win with speed and talent and Komrade although still a great defensive player and still a good player can't keep up with a young gun like Johnsson.

Yeah, I didn't quite pay enough attention when responding... You're right that they'll probably know what JvR's cost will be by the draft.  What I was trying to say was that I'm not sure they'll be able to make a decision on him by the draft if Tavares is still unsigned.

Maybe, but I also wonder if maybe we're placing more emphasis on the possibility of signing Tavares than Leafs' management is.
