Leafs @ Ducks - Jan. 14th, 10:00pm - SNO, TSN 1050

I just realized if the Leafs don't score I won't have to update their stats for tomorrow's GDT thread. Go Andersen!

They haven't actually put the puck past a goalie since late in the 1st against Columbus.

Tough break there.  Franson doesn't deflect that puck and Perry doesn't get anywhere near that puck and instead it's perfectly teed up for him.

Jonathan Bernier - .864 SV% over the 4 games under Horachek

Maybe time to try Reimer

With a group like the Leafs, I wonder how many 'good losses' they'll be able to stomach before the usual suspects start to cheat for scoring chances.

Process be damned.

Franson is the reason for the last two goal. dumbass

Are you seriously blaming him for the third goal? Good finish by Perry, but a total cherry-picking hail-mary play by Perry-Getzlaf. They were lucky that pass got through and deflected the way it did.

Wow Clarkson is a dumb player.  The Leafs get the puck in the corner.  Clarkson is the only man deep in the offensive zone.  He's standing near the net.  He hesitates to go after the puck and Anaheim gets hold of the puck because of it.  Clarkson tried to just stand in front of the net for absolutely no reason.  Why is he still getting offensive opportunities.

Nope exact same people. Heavily leaning on Phaneuf. We're right back to where we were last year. Maybe, just maybe, play your young offensive defensemen?

Part of that process is finding the balance, so . . .

Rielly - 18:15 TOI on the season.  He's averaging nearly 22 minutes a game since Horachek took over.

So Horachuk is apparently incapable of making line adjustments. Let's see what happens this PP.

I like Horachek but somebody needs to slap him silly until he takes Clarkson off the PP.

Yes if he did not tip the puck it is not a break away.

I'm talking in particular about the powerplay, in which Phaneuf and Franson start and Clarkson gets a shift, come hell or high water. At some point in time, you have to make a change.

Rielly's played all of 2 less shifts that Phaneuf and had similar ice time to Phaneuf since Horachek took over.

If it were up to me, Phaneuf would have been taken off the 1st PP a while ago. Would like to see what Gardiner and/or Rielly could do on that unit. Even if it were for a short period of time.

Damien Cox and Nik Kypreos bringing you their awesome hockey knowledge.  This is all the system and not a scoring slump at all.  Sigh.  And they are openly advocating for Kessel to cheat and ignore the coach.  Hilarious.

The PP was pretty low on the list of things that needed to be worked on when Horachek took over. Considering the lack of offence of late, I'm sure he'll get to it soon.

I don't think they need to "work on it". I think they have to stop giving Clarkson a PP shift, and stop playing Phaneuf and Franson--neither of whom carry the puck particularly well--for the first 90 seconds. Very little work necessary.

Media now calling Carlyle a genius for letting the Leafs cheat and playing run-and-gun. Amazing.

Well, Sportnet always has the media's best and brightest to work their intermissions.
