Leafs @ Flames - Jan. 26th, 9:00pm - SNO, TSN 1050

I was kind of embarrassed for Tkachuk for how he responded.  It was really the response I would expect from a spoiled child not a professional adult hockey player.

It was really weird

He did grow up the son of a very wealthy hockey player.

I've watched the puck flip and tantrum so many times now.

I've got to say that was 100x more satisfying than a fight.

Missing will.probably get fined though. If it's a suspension it's a joke.

Calgary Flames media is pretty much the same as their oil media.

Yes, because jumping on a goalies head like hacksaw Jim Duggan was completely above board and not bushleague at all

I wonder what the reaction was like in the Leafs lockerroom? Lots of laughs at Tkachuk's expense?

Are Matthews and Marner still good buds with him? Must be awkward if they are.

lol he changed his tune real quick when a former NHLer told him he was wrong.

It's both "bush league" and "good for hockey". Man it must be tough not having a spine like Francis.

George Parros and the DOPS are incompetent.  I honestly expect a fine for Muzzin

You kind of have to fine him IMO. Sets a standard that it's okay to do that to opponents after the game.

But no way suspendable. No intention to injure on the play. He couldn't have made that flick any softwrnifbhe tried.

Bahaha... I loved his hissy fit. This guy puts all is weight via 2 knees on the back of our goalie's head and also rode Matthews into the boards at high speed the next game. What a lunatic loosing his mind like that over Muzzin flicking the puck at him after his relentless antics. We got the best of him for a change.

It definitely felt like a game the Leafs would loose the last few seasons. If the Leafs blew a lead like that during the past 3 years they would definitely loose the game. The Boyd and Marner goals both surprised me... not part of the Leafs usual script. A truly massive goal and spectacular shot by Marner. A season pace setting goal. They're changing the narrative.

There have been four plays where the Calgary player has taken down a Leaf in front of the Calgary net and sure enough Calgary gets the first powerplay

They have zero shots on goal so far.  That cannot be allowed to stand, don't you see?

I was just thinking how last year Jim Hughson wouldn?t have shut up about the Leafs not having a shot 10 minutes into the period.  Where is the info graphic indicating no shots

Like Cuthbert calling the games. Not sold on Cassie yet but she's better then Craig Simpson.

For the moment I'm watching on the Sportsnet app on my PS4, which is carrying the Flames feed. Kelly Hrudey is doing the analysis. He's so-so in the role, not really adding much.

Nobody is better than Ray Ferraro in my books, not even close.

Ray is the man.  I'd listen to him read the phone book.
Ray just checks all the boxes. He's likeable, he's articulate, he's insightful and routinely observes and highlights worthwhile overlooked details in the game, he's honest in his assessments, he gets genuinely enthusiastic about plays in the best possible way (see Pierre McGuire for the worst possible way), and he knows when to talk. In my mind, he does all of this better than any other hockey analyst I've ever heard. If I hear a punctuated "wow!" from Ray when I'm distractedly watching a game, I drop everything and wait for the replay, because it's going to be good.

Every once in a while, I watch and listen to Ray's orgasmic reaction to Matthews' wrist shot, partly because it's funny, but also because he nails "less is more" on this one and is emphatic is just the right way.

Not to harp on McGuire, because pretty much everyone agrees he's terrible, but I think nothing describes him better than "more is less".

I don't remember seeing when the Leafs had a habit of losing games after blowing leads like last night. Maybe back in the first season back in 16/17. They still lead last night going into the 3rd period and their record when leading going into the 3rd is really good.
5-0 this season
24-2-2 in 19/20
36-0-1 in 18/19
31-3-2 in 17/18
So including this season they're 96-5-5 when leading after 2. They're even really good(74-11-4) when leading after the 1st the last 3 years.
Good win though. Winning the second game is going to make or break this season.

Found someone with a dumber take than Francis haha. I remember when I was younger Francis and Strickland both seemed like smart and respected hockey writers. God I was dumb.

His teammates didn't join in while he was having a complete meltdown tantrum? How dare they show such a level of maturity in the face of such childishness!

If it's a trend in Calgary, it's because his teammates are sick of these useless displays of anger off the ice.

That's what I thought Strickland meant here, not that they should have jumped in.

Strickland is cozy with the Tkachuk's, would never say something bad about Keith's boys. He's definitely criticizing the Flames for not sticking up for him.

Ok, I didn't know about that history. Probably goes back to Keith's days with the Blues?

I don't know how you could read it the other way tbh.
