Leafs @ Flames - Mar. 13th, 8:00pm - TSN4, Fan 590

I think it shows that maybe Shanahan and Dubas are able to recognize some gems in the free agent market. Santorelli, Winnik and Booth were all good picks ups. Hopefully that wasn't just a fluke and they can find these types of players every year and turn them around at the deadline for more picks and prospects.

Booth ON FIRE when it counts the most.

I don't mind him smiling after his goals.  To hell with the rest of them.

It pisses me off, had he done this a few weeks earlier they'd have been able to get a mid round pick for him.

I think he's just getting his mojo back after the early season injuries.  And, he needs to earn a chance at a new contract next season!  That's what it looks like to me.
Agree. He worked hard all year, was effective in the corners, just wasn't scoring.  He's one of the few still working hard, good for him. If he's lucky he gets a chance next year with a better team.

I would think if he can stay healthy he's going to get better still, at least more consistently.  If I were the Leafs I would try to get him signed to another one year contract, and assuming he picks up his game, move him at the deadline.  They can be a 'development' team while they're rebuilding, and get paid for it with draft picks.

Was at the game...Booth by far was the best player on the team.  Panik and Sill had decent games too.

Eric Brewer makes Hal Gill look like Bobby Orr.  His career is finito.

If Tyler Blozak is on this team next year I'm going to throw up....the guy is beyond useless

I'm sure his buddy Kessel has told him 'they' can't treat them like that and despite their millions in salary, doesn't mean they owe the team anything.

... showing what is possible if a player makes a little effort when given an opportunity .... good for him
He hasn't shown effort all season long yet it sounds like you're proud of him compared to others for having the good fortune of getting goals in the last few games. I really don't understand.

I cannot believe that someone has not jumped Hudler yet.

For what? He barely even made contact with Rielly.

I think there was contact there, I also think they should be extremely protective of Rielly,.

I'm not saying beat Hudler up per say, but I'd have liked him roughed up at least and told that Mo is off limits.

I know Phaneuf's hit on Oshie was a good hit, it was significantly harder, but I really loved the response from Backes, I think you need to have leaders on your team that are overprotective even of their teammates.

I think especially when things are going as bad as they have been and they've not been having success, one thing that's easy to do is stick up for one another.

I don't think that's fair, he has been plugging away with limited minutes while trying to get healthy.

I am as pissed off as anyone that he has found his feet after the deadline, I'd have liked a draft pick for him, but I don't think you can really question his effort.

Remember this is a guy who is a former top six forward, he's played exclusively on the bottom line for Toronto and hasn't once complained, it's hard to hate him.

That would be a nice outcome. I suspect he may have some other offers during the summer, so it might come down to whether he wants to deal with this (Toronto) for another season.

He was hurt at the start of the season. Then he didn't get much ice time and when he did, it was often with pluggers. He's a past top 6 guy now getting a chance to show what he can do and he's delivering when a bunch of the rest of his team doesn't appear to be making a real effort or care.

I think that's a credit to him.

I think so too.  I remember another player talking about coming back from a long injury, a concussion I think, but an extended amount of time away from the game nonetheless.  He said it's like sitting at the side of the freeway, where everyone is traveling at full speed and you have to join traffic from a dead stop.  You don't get the benefit of gradually gaining speed, or in a hockey sense, having time to adjust to the speed of the game.

I haven't even seen last night's score, but I assume they lost, and badly.

Well, the Leafs had a 5 minute power play and gave up 2 shorties if that's any indication.  Good night for the tank, though.
