Puck goes around into the corner.  Nylander is the closest player to the puck....and then Polak pinches down for no reason, fumbles the puck and Calgary goes out the other way.

And that was the left wing boards. How?

Matthews has been pretty bad st both ends of the ice since returning from injury. Wonder if he's still injured.

Edit: relative to his normal self of course.

He doesn't seem to be able to create the shot that he has in the past.  It would be interesting to know what the injury was.  If it is something like his back, these cross checks he keeps getting are probably not helping.

His forehand is still okay, but his backhand has no zip. Maybe the latissimus on his left side? Mirror said he?s got a reinforced set of shoulder pads along the back.

+/- is a useless stat.  Last year Zaitsev was -22.  This year he is +10 and plays a billion minutes on the PK.

The Leafs are crossing over their wingers a lot after zone entries to attack on their open sides.

If the defenders are playing their strong sides, this forces them to defend with their backhands.

Could be, although full disclosure, I have no idea what the latissimus is.  His puck handling just doesn't seem to be as dynamic.  Could just be a fatigue thing as well, or players adjusting to him.

Gardiner, Nylander, Matthews, and Hainsey on the four-on-four and Hainsey?s the one who took the shot :\

Oops that should say Mirtle.

The latissimus = lats in gym vernacular. It?s under the traps.

If it's not in the "leg bone is connected to the..." song, then I don't know what it is :-)

I just looked it up.  If it's true, then the cross checks he keeps assorbing (I think there have been three in the last three games) probably aren't helping.  Although I don't imagine he would be playing if there was a risk it was going to get worse.

Oh look, the Leafs are dominating the entire game and have taken more penalties than they have drawn again.  This crap needs to end.

When was the last game they had more PPs than the opponent?  It doesn't seem like it happens very often.

In November?  3-8-2.  3 Games they had more PPs (all by 1 PP opportunity), 8 games where they had more PK opportunities.  2 games they tied.  This would be their 9th game in 14 taking more penalties than they draw.

It just seems odd to me because the team is so passive as a physical team and even with their questionable defensive play they really aren't a team that relies on a lot of constant hooking/holding.
