@LeafsPR: .@MapleLeafs have acquired G Frederik Andersen from Anaheim for the 30th pick in the 2016 NHL Draft & a 2nd round pick in 2017. #TMLtalk

This was pretty cheap.

Edit: if the plan was to draft a goalie with the 30th, we just got a pretty good developing one for an extra 2nd that is better aligned with our core development.

It looks like the same kind of price that San Jose paid for Jones.

Slightly poorer first and a second instead of prospect.

The Leafs have said they might have too many picks, good move to get a guy like Andersen.

Yup.

And still have plenty of 2nd rounders, no?

This reminds me of all the goalies we tried trading for. Then again do we really have any other options? I don't know. I hope they're not thinking of doing some rash trading...

It seems like the right price for a goalie like Andersen, but I'm still not sure I'd have paid it. He's about to turn 27 years old and his last 2 seasons have pretty much been right at league average. I dunno.

Yeah and he isn't anything special in terms of HDSV% either by the looks of it.

Still he's 6'4" and they probably think they can get him signed cheaper than Reimer.

We didn't really trade away anything of unrecoupable value (if you believe draft pick valuation calculations).

I'm only aware of our pick and the Ottawa pick. Was there a San Jose pick in there somewhere?

This is putting a pretty positive spin on it, you're not wrong though I suppose.

If you look at the goalies who would have to be traded due to the expansion draft, you'd have Andersen, Fleury
and unlikely but Bishop - more likely the backup (can't spell his name....)

Andersen was the most attainable. and we had 30 and 31 so I'm OK with it...
