10/10 for Weise on that sell job.

Absolutely, but Dion has to be smarter there, it was a selfish penalty and put the final nail in their coffin.

Smarter than what? My point is that it shouldn't be a penalty and if it shouldn't be one then he did nothing stupid or wrong.  Maybe you think it should have been regardless but I don't. The replay is hilarious he just comes up and gets entangled with Weise like D do in front of the net every time. Weise doesn't act like Phaneuf shivved him and there's no problem.

You can't go after someone like that with a crosscheck, even if it wasn't as vicious as Weise made it out to be. Especially since it was a clear retaliation move. With that said, Weise should have absolutely gotten a boarding call there.

Yup.

Killing it 5 on 5 this year but the special teams have been woeful.

75% PK
10% PP
1 Shorty given up.

The game is really not in doubt now (as if it was after the Habs' first goal).

But the Leafs have taken too many bad penalties this evening, with Phaneuf's selfish penalty at the end of the second period being perhaps the weakest of them all.

Tbh I didn't even think it was a crosscheck or if it was it was hardly anything, but I acknowledge that's a subjective thing.

I get that we are going to lose a boatload of games where we carry the play.  The team is designed that way, this season.  But it royally pisses me off when your goaltending whiffs on at least one every damn game, especially when it comes at a critical juncture.

Small sample size, but early in the year they sure talked a lot about Jim Hiller and his PP expertise.

They really don't have the weapons for a very successful powerplay.

That's true I guess, I'd argue though that they could put out a first PP unit that's as good as at least 20 teams.

It's something that will probaby take awhile to show progress, plus PP's are pretty cyclical in terms of success too so I'm sure it'll click for awhile at some point soon too.
