Leafs @ Islanders - Apr. 1st, 7:00pm - SNO, TSN 1050

The Islanders fans who boo Tavares are like the Star Wars fans who say mean things to the actresses on Instagram.

What's really depressing about it is seeing hockey writers I used to respect defend it as fans being "passionate". You can be passionate about something while still comporting yourself like an adult.

Can't wait to see the passionate toddlers when we sign Barzal in a few years.

JT scores the game-winner in a playoff-clinching game against his former team that has been incessantly booing him. Feels good, man.

If I could reach right through the internet I'd hug you so hard right now

Feels great.  Call it sweet revenge.  Take that Islanders fans!  No amount of moronic behaviour was going to stop Tavares & the Leafs tonight.  (Thank  goodness there wasn?t much this time around).

GO LEAFS GO!

I can buy the booing.  Going to a sports event has a degree of fan interaction that a movie actress doesn?t.  It?s not my personal cup of tea but I can get it at least.

I can?t get behind the ?I?ll kill myself if you don?t re-sign? and burning jerseys element though

I am enjoying just how good of a goal scorer this snake is though.  I think dubas should sign a boa constrictor to play defense next year

Boos, yeah, where?  Nothing got between Tavares nor the Leafs.  Statement game!

What John Tavares "did" to Islanders fans was play for them for 9 years, at a price way below his market value. He didn't hold out or demand a trade. He played out his contract and left.

There's something deeply wrong in the mind of a fan who thinks that sort of thing should be booed.

You can see this in the video upthread, where I fully expected Tavares to give a slight nod and proffer a quiet 'Live long and prosper'.

Tavares is the perfect Leafbot this front office has been trying to build, and he comes to us already prefabricated and operational.

The coach loves players who are 'men' that know what it takes to stay and thrive in this league, taking care of things off the ice nutritionally and physically, and taking care of things on the ice in machine-like fashion, so he only needs to think about how to deploy them.

The GM loves players who understand the game is a process, built up of a series of small decisions in the right direction that culminate into a greater product, borne through the absorption all the data available (in binder form) and distilled into an adaptive formula to drive success.

The President loves players who embrace the history of the team and want to participate in building a new legacy and establish a foundation of pride in the Leaf.

The fans (who are talk radio callers) love players who score goals and put up points with a bluecollar attitude, who are made in Ontario, Canada.

I took the way Tavares stared at the guy like dispassionate pity.  Like if you're looking at a caged animal in a zoo and thinking "that poor thing, no wonder it's so upset"

Yahh, playoffs! Can't take making the playoffs for granted. Excited to be back in! Wasn't too long ago where we made the playoffs just once in 12 years. Let's hope we see at least a couple of rounds this year.

I just sent out to get this engraved on a piece of granite I've been hoarding.

Still dumb.

Can you imagine trading for Muzzin, then saying "welcome to the team. We're going to accomplish great things together. Here's your razor."?
